Bac Ninh completes infrastructure, expands development space

Updated: 14:18, 26/01/2026

BAC NINH - As Vietnam deepens its integration into the global economy, the northern province of Bac Ninh has consistently identified infrastructure development as a key priority, laying the groundwork for long-term growth.

In recent years, the province has mobilised significant resources to invest in technical, urban, industrial and inter-regional transport infrastructure, gradually expanding connectivity, enhancing competitiveness and creating momentum for sustainable development.

The provincial urban infrastructure receives synchronous investment toward centrally governed city.

As one of the country’s most dynamic localities, Bac Ninh early recognised the need to place infrastructure at the centre of its development strategy, viewing it as a foundation for attracting investment, boosting production and business activities, improving living standards and working towards the goal of becoming a centrally governed city.

A key highlight has been the upgrading and expansion of the province’s internal transport network, enabling smoother connectivity among localities, industrial parks, urban areas and major production zones.

A number of arterial and ring roads have been invested in, linking Bac Ninh with major economic hubs such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Lang Son, Quang Ninh and Thai Nguyen.

In parallel with road infrastructure, Bac Ninh is studying and investing in the development of a multimodal transport network. Efforts are underway to strengthen connectivity between Gia Binh Airport and Hanoi as well as neighbouring localities, further enhancing regional integration.

Of particular note, Component Project 1 of the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong railway was launched by the Ministry of Construction in December 2025. The project is expected to create a new transport corridor, boost logistics capacity, ease pressure on road networks and improve freight and passenger transport across the region.

Under the approved plan, the railway section passing through Bac Ninh spans approximately 3.76 km, running through Phu Khe, Tu Son and Song Lieu wards.

A series of aviation, road and railway projects currently under way are strengthening Bac Ninh’s appeal to strategic investors. A representative of Singapore-based Soilbuild Group said Bac Ninh had been selected as a strategic investment destination in Vietnam thanks to its synchronised infrastructure system, convenient transport links, favourable investment environment and proactive local authorities that consistently support investors.

On its path towards becoming a centrally governed city, Bac Ninh has identified modern infrastructure as a decisive factor and continues to prioritise its development. Alongside urban and transport projects, industrial park infrastructure is also being invested in systematically to meet the requirements of high-quality and sustainable growth.

As a result, Bac Ninh has maintained its position as one of Vietnam’s leading industrial centres, while gradually shifting towards a development model based on technology, innovation and higher value-added activities.

Modern infrastructure and an attractive investment climate have helped the province draw major corporations and high-tech projects, including Samsung, Canon, Foxconn, Goertek, Amkor and Luxshare.

Another key pillar of Bac Ninh’s infrastructure strategy is expanding regional and inter-regional connectivity. National and regional strategic transport projects that are under construction or in preparation are expected to create strong momentum for the province’s future development.

Notable projects include the Kenh Vang Bridge, the Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed railway passing through Bac Ninh, and road links connecting Gia Binh Airport with Hanoi.

In mid-January, at a conference discussing capital city planning with a 100-year vision, leaders from Bac Ninh and six other provinces and cities proposed stronger regional linkages between Hanoi and neighbouring localities in transport development, including urban railways, waterways, road networks and underground metro systems. The proposal aims to create a broader development space for the entire region.

With strategic infrastructure projects gradually coming into operation, Bac Ninh’s development space is expected to continue expanding, laying a solid foundation for stronger growth. The province is positioning itself to emerge as a modern industrial and urban hub of the region and the country.
