BAC NINH - A delegation from the Bac Ninh Municipal People's Council, led by Tran Thi Hang, Standing Committee member of the Municipal Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairwoman of the People’s Council, met with leaders of the Busan Metropolitan Council and attended an investment and trade promotion programme with South Korean businesses at the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan on the final day of its working visit to South Korea.

The delegation was received by Kang Mu-gil, Chairman of the Busan Metropolitan Council, and Song Sang-jo, First Vice Chairman of the Council on November 6.

Also attending were Doan Phuong Lan, Vietnamese Consul General in Busan, representatives of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Busan Business Association and South Korean companies.

At the meeting, Kang Mu-gil highlighted the positive development of Vietnam-South Korea relations across various fields ahead of the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2027.

He praised Bac Ninh's development, particularly in high-tech industries and semiconductors, saying the two localities had considerable potential to complement each other's strengths. He expressed hope that they would step up exchanges of experience and expand cooperation in the coming years.

She affirmed that Bac Ninh attached great importance to strengthening cooperation with South Korea, including expanding ties with Busan in economic, cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

At a roundtable on investment and trade promotion with South Korean businesses at the Vietnamese Consulate General, the delegation presented Bac Ninh's development potential, competitive advantages and strategic priorities, focusing on its investment climate, sectors seeking foreign capital and opportunities for cooperation with South Korean companies.

She said Bac Ninh was consolidating its position as one of Vietnam's major industrial centres, with its economic scale ranking fifth nationwide. The city currently has more than 3,600 active foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with total registered capital of 51.09 billion USD.

South Korea is Bac Ninh's largest foreign investor, with approximately 1,164 projects and total registered investment of around 16.7 billion USD.

These achievements provide a solid foundation for further cooperation, particularly in high technology, supporting industries and electronic component manufacturing.

As part of its development strategy, Bac Ninh is developing spaces for high technology, digital technology, research and development, data centres and innovation. The city is also prioritising semiconductors, integrated circuit design and specialised workforce training.

Bac Ninh seeks to strengthen ties with Busan-based businesses in electronics, semiconductors, supporting industries, technology research and development, artificial intelligence, logistics, trade, tourism and high-tech agriculture.

Key priorities include connecting businesses from both sides, developing supply chains and improving the capacity of domestic enterprises.

The municipal leader stressed that Bac Ninh would prioritise projects featuring advanced and environmentally friendly technologies, alongside workforce training and technology transfer.

The city also pledged to create favourable conditions for investors and called on Busan businesses to put forward concrete proposals to develop practical, effective and long-term partnerships.

Representatives of the Busan Business Association and South Korean companies described Vietnam as an important partner with significant potential for cooperation and investment.

They expressed interest in strengthening connections with Bac Ninh's authorities and businesses to explore opportunities in industrial manufacturing, trade and other sectors where both sides have competitive advantages.
