The festival will feature mass arts groups from 49 original Quan Ho villages across 11 communes and wards, including Lien Bao, Tien Du, Vo Cuong, Hap Linh, Kinh Bac, Vu Ninh, Yen Phong, Tam Da, Tam Son, Van Ha and Nenh.

The festival aims to showcase traditional Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs, including original lyrics, as well as the customs, etiquette and communication practices of Quan Ho singers.

Each village will form a group of at least 25 members, including artisans, Quan Ho singers, members of Quan Ho folk-song clubs and local performers. Each group will present a programme of no more than 20 minutes featuring three performances: solo, duet and group singing.

Duets will prioritise the traditional call-and-response style between male and female Quan Ho singers without instrumental accompaniment, organisers said.

Teams are also encouraged to perform newly written lyrics based on Bac Ninh Quan Ho melodies, praising the Party and President Ho Chi Minh as well as achievements in the development and renewal of the country and local communities.

The festival is being held ahead of Vietnam Cultural Day on November 24 and is expected to help promote the distinctive cultural values of the Kinh Bac region among residents and visitors.

The event will also provide an opportunity for Quan Ho practitioners from different villages to meet and exchange experiences, contributing to efforts to preserve and promote the heritage for future generations.
