Updated: 11:22, 17/10/2025

BAC NINH - Bac Ninh Province, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Samsung Electronics Vietnam, held a ceremony on October 16 to review the “Smart Factory Development Cooperation Project 2025,” a five-month initiative supporting five enterprises in northern Vietnam.

The event was attended by Pham Van Thinh, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh People’s Committee (PPC) along with representatives from the Industrial Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Samsung Electronics Vietnam, provincial departments and related business associations.

Pham Van Thinh, together with representatives from the Department of Industry, Samsung Vietnam Purchasing Center and provincial departments and sectors, present certificates of project completion to the five participating enterprises.

Launched on May 19, 2025, the project aimed to help Vietnamese manufacturing firms enhance management capacity, optimize operations, promote digital transformation and adopt international-standard smart factory models.

Participating companies included AMA Holdings JSC, An Lap Plastic Co., Ltd (Bac Ninh), Korea-Vietnam Technical Copper Co., Ltd – KCT (Ninh Binh), Van Long Technical Plastic JSC (Hai Phong) and Vina Technology JSC (Thai Nguyen).

After more than five months, the project recorded significant outcomes. The participating firms successfully implemented real-time production data systems, enabling leaders to monitor progress and make timely decisions.

A comprehensive integration system linking production, warehousing, quality and equipment management increased smart factory maturity levels from 1.7 to 2.8.

Production management systems were established across all stages—from raw materials and assembly to shipping—resulting in a rise in equipment efficiency from 90% to 95% and a 75% reduction in product defects.

The rate of plan completion improved from 80% to 92%, while delivery times shortened and labor productivity increased, helping optimize production processes.

Kim Tea Hoon, Deputy General Director in charge of the Purchasing Center at Samsung Vietnam, said the initiative is a joint effort between Samsung and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to strengthen the manufacturing, management and digital transformation capabilities of Vietnam’s supporting industries.

Since 2022, the project has worked with 82 Vietnamese enterprises and trained 123 smart factory experts. After completion, participating firms will continue receiving online consultation from Korean specialists to enhance competitiveness and expand their participation in global supply chains, contributing to Vietnam’s industrial development.

PPC Vice Chairman Pham Van Thinh praised the project’s results and the efforts of northern enterprises. He highlighted Samsung’s long-standing support for Vietnamese firms since 2010, including technical, technological, and managerial assistance, which has helped local manufacturers, particularly in Bac Ninh, move toward automation and smart production trends.

He also encouraged the five participating companies to maintain their achievements and share best practices to further contribute to industrial growth in northern provinces.

In recognition of its contributions, Samsung Vietnam’s Purchasing Center received a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Industry and Trade.
