Bac Ninh seeks deeper investment ties with South Korean partners

BAC NINH - Bac Ninh Province is stepping up efforts to attract high-quality foreign investment and strengthen cooperation with South Korean businesses, provincial officials said following a reent meeting with representatives of Lee Kim Alliance Co., Ltd. and the Cheongju Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s representative office in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Pham Van Thinh, Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh People’s Committee (PPC), highlighted the northern province’s position as one of Vietnam’s leading industrial hubs and a major destination for foreign direct investment (FDI).

Located within the Hanoi Capital Region, Bac Ninh has benefited from improving transport infrastructure, a business-friendly environment and strong support policies for investors, PPC Vice Chairman said.

The province is shifting from broad-based investment attraction to a more selective approach, prioritizing projects in high technology, innovation, green industry and sustainable development.

Key sectors targeted for investment include semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), data centers, research and development (R&D), smart logistics, precision supporting industries and high-quality workforce training.

Under its latest development plan, Bac Ninh aims to establish several large-scale high-tech and innovation zones, including a High-Tech Industrial Center and Advanced Science and Technology Research Institute for the Capital Region, a Semiconductor and Integrated Circuit Innovation Center, and a concentrated information technology park serving research, design, testing and technology development activities.

James Kang Zai Yuan, a representative of Lee Kim Alliance, praised Bac Ninh’s socio-economic achievements and favorable investment climate.

He expressed interest in sectors prioritized by the province, including high technology, semiconductors, logistics, data centers, supporting industries and workforce development.

During the discussions, Kang Hyeon-Soo, head of the Cheongju Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s representative office in Hanoi, outlined the strengths of businesses in South Korea’s Cheongju Province, particularly in semiconductor technology, biotechnology and cosmetics manufacturing.

According to Kang, companies from Cheongju are exploring investment opportunities in Vietnam, with Bac Ninh emerging as a potential destination.

The two sides also discussed establishing a regular coordination mechanism for investment promotion activities, organizing business networking conferences and seminars, supporting South Korean enterprises operating in the province, developing supporting-industry supply chains and strengthening links between South Korean and Vietnamese businesses in Bac Ninh.

The PPC Vice Chairman reaffirmed the province’s commitment to creating favorable conditions for South Korean companies seeking to study, implement and expand investment projects in Bac Ninh. He also pledged to prioritize energy supply for investors operating in the province.
