Bac Ninh steps up efforts to expand markets for key fruit products
BAC NINH - With annual output reaching hundreds of thousands of tonnes, oranges, pomelos, apples and guavas have become important commercial crops in Bac Ninh. To increase product value and growers’ incomes, the city is revamping its trade promotion efforts by strengthening business links, diversifying sales channels, expanding digital marketing and gradually opening up export markets.
According to the municipal Department of Agriculture and Environment, Bac Ninh has around 11,650 hectares of oranges, pomelos, apples and guavas in 2026, with estimated output exceeding 118,500 tonnes, up 18.7% from the previous year.

Pomelo production is estimated at around 47,000 tonnes, followed by apples at 35,090 tonnes, oranges at 27,600 tonnes and guavas at 8,835 tonnes.
Alongside the expansion of production, greater emphasis is being placed on quality standards, helping local fruit products gain access to demanding markets.
Across the city, around 3,660 hectares of pomelos, 1,700 hectares of oranges, 1,500 hectares of apples and 800 hectares of guavas are produced under VietGAP standards.
Some products have begun reaching overseas markets. Dao Duong pomelos have been exported to Russia, while a company has sourced guavas from growing areas in Phuong Son ward for export to the UK.
Bac Ninh’s fruit is currently sold through various channels, including wholesale markets, traders, agents, supermarkets and online platforms.
In response, the Department of Industry and Trade has surveyed procurement demand among businesses and distribution networks inside and outside the city, including Central Retail, MM Mega Market, WinCommerce, Lotte Mart and Hanoi’s southern wholesale market.
The city has also recently held a business networking conference to connect producers with buyers and promote cooperation in distributing oranges, pomelos, apples, guavas and other signature agricultural products.
Alongside traditional distribution networks, the city plans to expand sales through e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, TikTok Shop, Lazada and Tiki.
Promotional campaigns are expected to combine product introduction videos, livestream sales and product experiences to reach a wider consumer base.
Nguyen The Thi, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said this year’s fruit festival is expected to cover a wider area.
Activities will be organised across locations throughout the city and linked with local tourism and cultural attractions to promote distinctive fruit products from different areas.
The department will also sign an agreement with TikTok Shop to establish online storefronts showcasing local produce.
Alongside efforts to expand the domestic market, the city is reviewing growing areas and packaging facilities for new export codes to meet overseas market requirements.
For oranges, authorities plan to seek two growing-area codes covering a combined 20 hectares at Tan Moc Agricultural Produce Marketing Cooperative and the farm of Nguyen Van Hien in Nam Duong commune.

Regarding pomelos, 19 growing areas operated by 19 households, spanning a total of 50.9 hectares across communes and wards such as Luc Ngan, Chu, Phuong Son and Van Son, are being reviewed for access to the Chinese market and, progressively, other destinations.
For apples, authorities plan to apply for one growing-area code covering 10 hectares in Deo Gia commune. For guavas, a three-hectare growing area in Phuong Son ward is being reviewed to support planned exports to the Czech Republic.
The city currently maintains one code for a 17.12-hectare guava-growing area operated by Quyen Phong Agricultural Cooperative in Tan Yen commune, and another for a 1.8-hectare pomelo-growing area belonging to Tran Dinh En in Chu ward. Both are designated for domestic sales.
Under the plan, the Department of Industry and Trade will coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment, agencies under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Vietnam’s overseas trade offices to assess market demand and connect local producers with importers and businesses.
The city also plans to work with Amazon Vietnam to help businesses and growers establish online storefronts and reach the US market through a pilot programme linking e-commerce development with logistics.
