Bac Ninh steps up power demand management to ensure supply through 2030

Updated: 16:02, 20/08/2026

BAC NINH - The National Power System and Market Operation Company (NSMO) and Bac Ninh Power Company on August 19 held a working session on power demand management and response for 2027-2028, with a focus on 2030, and reviewed measures to ensure power supply during the 2026 dry season.

Bac Ninh's peak power demand has reached 3,229.7 MW, up about 12.6% from 2025.

The delegation surveys the installation and operation of the rooftop solar power system at Precision Technology Component Fulian Co., Ltd.

In the first seven months of this year, commercial electricity sales reached 10.551 billion kWh, up 13.62% year-on-year, and are forecast to reach about 18.5 billion kWh for the full year, an increase of 11.45%.

Power demand is expected to continue rising in the coming years. New registered loads of more than 5 MW are forecast to increase from 339 MW in 2026 to 534 MW in 2027, 749 MW in 2028 and 847 MW in 2030.

The new demand is expected to be concentrated mainly in industrial parks, industrial clusters and high-tech, electronics and semiconductor manufacturing businesses.

Bac Ninh Power Company has signed demand-response agreements with 946 major customers, covering about 109.5 MW of capacity, and load-shifting agreements with 864 industrial customers, with registered shiftable capacity of about 190 MW.

Alongside demand-side management, Bac Ninh is also accelerating the development of rooftop solar power.

The meeting also reviewed power system operations during the first eight months of the year and warned that the 2027-2030 period would remain challenging, requiring faster progress on power generation and grid projects.
