Bac Ninh win six gold medals at National Youth Xiangqi Championships
BAC NINH - Bac Ninh athletes won 32 medals, including six golds, at the 2026 National Youth Xiangqi Championships, which concluded after five days of competition.
The tournament was organised by the Vietnam Xiangqi Federation in coordination with the An Giang provincial Department of Culture and Sports.

It brought together 162 young athletes from 10 teams representing six provinces and cities: Da Nang, Gia Lai, Bac Ninh, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City and host An Giang. Can Tho and An Giang took part in the tournament for the first time.
Athletes competed in age groups from under-7 to under-18 in three disciplines: rapid, blitz and standard xiangqi.
Bac Ninh sent 16 athletes to compete in all three disciplines across different age groups. The team won six gold, 10 silver and 16 bronze medals.
Four of Bac Ninh's six gold medals were won by twin brothers Vu Duc Nguyen and Vu Duc Dat, both born in 2018. They claimed gold in the men's team and individual blitz events and the men's team and individual standard events.
The other two gold medals went to Ta Khanh Linh in the women's individual rapid and standard events in the under-8 age group.
The tournament aims to promote xiangqi among young people and students while helping build a pool of young athletes. It also serves to select outstanding players for international youth competitions in 2026-2027.
