Bac Ninh fighter wins gold at 2026 Sanda World Cup

BAC NINH - Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy from the Northern province of Bac Ninh has recently won the women’s 56 kg gold medal at the 11th Sanda World Cup 2026.

In the final at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion in Macau, China, Thu Thuy faced Chan Tsz Ching of Hong Kong, China.

Displaying confidence and tactical flexibility, the Vietnamese fighter quickly took control of the match. In the opening round, Thu Thuy landed a series of accurate and effective strikes, gaining points through speed and agile movement.

In the second round, she maintained strong defensive discipline and capitalized on scoring opportunities to secure a convincing 2-0 victory and claim the gold medal.

The IWUF 11th Sanda World Cup, organized by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), took place from May 13-15 in Macau, China.

The tournament, regarded as the highest-level sanda competition in the wushu system, attracted 110 athletes and coaches from 21 countries and territories competing for 17 medal sets, including 11 men’s and six women’s weight categories.

Born in 1998 in Ngoc Thien Commune, Thu Thuy trains at Bac Ninh Sports Training and Competition Center No.1. Her latest gold medal further strengthens her impressive international record and reinforces her status as one of the world’s leading sanda fighters.

In 2025, she won gold medals at the World Sanda Cup, the Asian Sanda Cup, the World Wushu Championships and the 33rd SEA Games, along with a silver medal at the World Games.
