The opening ceremony was jointly held on July 30 by the Sports Authority of Vietnam (SAV) and the Bac Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

It was attended by Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, SAV Director General, Mai Son, permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee (PPC), leaders of Bac Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and more than 160 team leaders, coaches and atheletes.

This year tournament brought together 7 delegations including Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh city, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, People’s Public Security Forces, Bac Ninh and Nghe An with total 160 team leaders, coaches and atheletes.

This is the first time it has been organised under a national club-based format.

The event aims to promote the development of fencing practice at the grassroots level, identify and select outstanding young athletes for the national team while evaluating capabilities of coaches, referees and sports administrators.

The championship takes place from July 29 to August 5 featuring 15 events, including individual, team and mixed team competitions in the 3 fencing disciplines: foil, épée and sabre.

The competition is run in accordance with the rules of the International Fencing Federation (FIE).

Individual events take place on the first 3 days, followed by team and mixed team events. The host delegation of Bac Ninh is represented by 14 athletes competing in the championship.

Exciting matches have been taking place since July 30 at Bac Ninh multifunctional sports hall (in Vu Ninh ward) and scheduled to wrap up on August 4 afternoon.
