Businesswoman brings Bac Giang lychees abroad
BAC GIANG - In the lychee season, along National Highway 31, the section from Kim street in Phuong Son commune to Bien Dong commune (Luc Ngan district), there are more than 10 lychee purchasing points named "Bang Thuy".
Many households want to sell lychees to these points because their owner is reputable and professional. The person who built that brand is businesswoman Ta Thi Thuy (born in 1980), Director of the Bang Thuy Agricultural Cooperative in Giap Son commune, Luc Ngan district.

Born and grown up in the "lychee capital", Thuy has many years of doing business at Pingxiang border market (China). She can speak Chinese fluently and thoroughly understand the Chinese market. She has set up relations with many customers who are large Chinese fruit importers, including Hong Taiyang Company.
"China is a huge market. Hong Taiyang alone demands unlimited imported fruits, so the important thing is whether we can meet their requirements or not," Thuy said.

Wishing to bring her homeland's specialty fruit to the neighbouring market, in 2000, Thuy began exporting the first batch of lychees through the border gate of Lao Cai province to China. Since 2014, when she cooperated with Hong Taiyang, preservation and packaging technology has been improved, contributing to increasing the value of lychees and affirming reputation among customers.
In 2021, in order to increase the operational scale, she founded Bang Thuy Cooperative with 16 members. In recent years, she and her cooperative have invested in building warehouses to preserve, process and package lychees to ensure export standards.

The difference between the lychee purchasing points of Bang Thuy Cooperative and many others in the locality is that Bang Thuy purchases lychees both in the morning and afternoon, so that farmers do not need to harvest lychees at night.
This June, the lychee purchasing points of Bang Thuy Cooperative are quite vibrant, with more than 100 workers purchasing, pre-processing and packaging lychees, and uploading them to trucks. On average, every day, the cooperative purchases about 50 tonnes of lychees for export.
“We exported 3,000 tonnes of lychees to China in 2022 and 4,000 tonnes in 2023. This year due to low output, we are expected to ship only 2,000 tonnes. Currently, a number of Chinese businesspeople have come to Bac Giang to coordinate with the cooperative in purchasing lychees," said Thuy.
After many years of working with lychees, Thuy realized that Luc Ngan people have made a big change in their production thinking towards high quality products that meet strict conditions set by importing countries.

To export lychees, local farmers must follow VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, with the planting process put under the instructions, inspection and supervision of authorities.
Li Weiqiang, a representative of Hong Taiyang Company based in Guangdong (China), said "We appreciate and trust Ta Thi Thuy as well as Bang Thuy Cooperative.
During the years of the Covid-19 pandemic, we could not send people to Luc Ngan to purchase lychees but still maintained export and import cooperation activities. Thousands of tonnes of lychees were selected by Bang Thuy Cooperative and then transported to China for Hong Taiyang, all with ensured quality."
