Danh Mountain spiritual and ecological tourist site

Updated: 17:23, 11/10/2025

BAC NINH - The Danh Mountain spiritual and ecological tourist site, recognized in 2023, is located in Phuc Hoa commune. The highest peak of Danh Mountain rises about 117 meters above sea level, surrounded by vast pine forests and striking natural scenery.

The path leading up the mountain was built of bricks, with a total of 345 gentle steps. At the foot of the mountain lies Elephant Trunk Well, about two meters deep, with crystal-clear water that never runs dry.

Along the way to the peak, visitors are treated to a poetic landscape, where the sound of rustling pine trees accompanies each passing breeze. At any point on the path, visitors can pause to capture picturesque photos amid the serene beauty of nature.

Perched on the mountain is Danh Temple, dedicated to the deities Cao Son and Quy Minh. The temple complex consists of three shrines: Trinh Temple (at the foot of the mountain), Ha Temple (midway up), and Thuong Temple (at the peak).

Based on relics preserved within the temples, researchers believe the complex dates back to the Le dynasty in the 18th century. Despite the passage of time and multiple restorations, the temples have retained much of their ancient charm and distinctive architectural features.

The Danh Temple Festival is held annually on the 19th and 20th days of the first lunar month, featuring traditional intangible cultural performances such as Hat vi and Hat ong folk singing.

A highlight of a visit to the Danh Mountain site is the opportunity to explore the region’s cultivation of Danh mountain ginseng and products derived from it.

Legend has it that during Emperor Tu Duc’s reign, this ginseng cured the blindness of Queen Mother Tu Du, earning it the status of a royal tribute and a celebrated specialty of northern Vietnam.

Today, Danh mountain ginseng cultivation is thriving, covering an area of about 150 hectares. With its golden skin, firm texture, and mildly sweet flavor, Danh Mountain ginseng is prized above varieties from other regions.

Its products are increasingly diverse — from fresh roots, ginseng-infused wine, and honey to tea bags and instant ginseng powder — with many certified as three- and four-star OCOP (One Commune One Product) items.
