Bac Ninh provincial Party Chief urges acceleration of Gia Binh airport projects

Updated: 11:21, 10/10/2025

BAC NINH — Bac Ninh provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hong Thai on October 9 urged faster progress on projects related to the planned Gia Binh International Airport, emphasizing the project’s strategic importance for the province’s socio-economic development and regional connectivity with Hanoi.

At a meeting of the Steering Committee for Investment and Construction of Projects related to Gia Binh International Airport under his chair, the provincial Party Chief reviewed implementation efforts and directed solutions to existing bottlenecks.

The key project under review was the construction of a road linking Gia Binh Airport to Hanoi. The route runs through nine communes and wards in Bac Ninh province.

Authorities have approved the investor to prepare a feasibility study and have established an appraisal council and a working team to oversee progress.

On land clearance, most localities along the route have set up steering committees and compensation councils to guide and implement site clearance activities.

Based on the route alignment approved by the provincial People’s Committee, local governments are surveying, measuring, and verifying land areas and ownership to be reclaimed.

Participants at the meeting identified challenges and delays compared with the initial plan and analyzed their causes.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan said the committee reviews the progress of airport-related projects in its weekly meetings.

Difficulties have been gradually addressed under the guidance of the provincial Steering Committee with strong commitment from all agencies, he said.

Tuan also cited several reasons for adjustments to project planning — including changes in investment scale, route alignment, sub-zone planning, and the population density effects on surrounding urban areas. These, he said, required careful coordination to ensure the overall development plan remains coherent and sustainable.

In his concluding remarks, Party Secretary Thai reaffirmed the pivotal role of the Gia Binh International Airport project for Bac Ninh’s long-term growth.

He acknowledged the Steering Committee and local authorities for their close supervision and effort, while openly pointing out causes of lingering difficulties.

He called on Party committees and local governments to enhance communication and mobilization work to build consensus among residents.

“The entire political system must act with the highest determination to carry out the projects synchronously and effectively,” Thai stressed, urging all sectors to implement the guidance of the provincial chairman.

The Party chief also demanded stronger coordination between departments and localities in performing their assigned duties, and assured that the provincial Party Standing Committee would accompany and support them throughout the project’s implementation.

He directed members of the Steering Committee to uphold a sense of responsibility, maintain close coordination, and, if necessary, work directly at the grassroots level to resolve issues efficiently.
