The farmers often harvest the fruits at night to supply them to the traders in early morning to consume in various markets of Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, Quang Ninh. The price ranges from 30 – 35,000 VND to 60 – 70,000 VND per kg depending on the fruit class.

Local farmers enjoy high selling price of early season sugar apple fruits.

The selling price at the beginning of the season is quite high and expects to maintain stably in a week before the official season. Particularly, some households in Huyen Son commune piloted to grow strange purple sugar apple which are widely preferred by customers.

The sugar apple is consumed at higher price in Huyen Son commune but the output is much lower than last year. Total productivity is expected to hit 700 tonnes in more than 150 hectares.

According to Tran Quang Tuyen, Chairman of the communal People’s Committee, this year, total output of sugar apple in the commune is equal to 50 percent of last year crop. This was due to unfavorable weather condition and active application of crop spreading technique to gain higher off-season productivity or more income.

Irradiation centre to open in the north to serve fruit export: minister
