Hanoi’s “Five City Gates” train tour to expand into Bac Ninh’s craft villages

Updated: 17:29, 11/10/2025

BAC NINH - Bac Ninh province is set to enhance its cultural tourism offerings as the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism collaborates on expanding the “Hanoi Five City Gates” train route — a journey from Thang Long to Kinh Bac — to include new destinations in Dong Nguyen ward.

Under the new plan, the route will extend beyond the nationally recognized Do Temple heritage site to connect with the Dong Ky cluster of communal houses, temples and pagodas as well as the traditional fine woodcraft village.

At this new stop, visitors will be able to tour heritage sites, experience woodcraft workshops, sample local cuisine, shop for OCOP-certified products and enjoy folk art performances showcasing the unique cultural identity of the Kinh Bac region.

Officials said the expansion aims to increase the attraction of the “Hanoi Five City Gates” railway tour, giving travelers more time to explore and appreciate Bac Ninh’s cultural and culinary heritage.

The initiative is also expected to promote the province’s craft village tourism, helping to elevate Bac Ninh – Kinh Bac’s profile on Vietnam’s national tourism map.

To ensure the project’s success, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has requested that the People’s Committee of Dong Nguyen ward focus on infrastructure investment, heritage preservation and service quality improvement.

The ward is also tasked with preparing programmes to welcome the first trial tour groups. Meanwhile, BHL Company will design the pilot tour and develop promotional plans for the new destination, with full operations expected to begin in 2025.
