Linkage fuels Bac Ninh’s tourism to take off

BAC NINH- Before the merger, both Bac Giang and Bac Ninh are potential for development of cultural and ecological tourism. Bac Ninh, the home to Quan ho folk songs, an intangible heritage of humanity, is a sacred land with talented people preserving thousands of historical and cultural relics and unique folk festivals such as Lim festival, Do temple, Dau pagoda, Phat Tich pagoda and Ba Chua Kho temple festivals.

Bac Ninh is also an attractive destination with famous craft villages like Dong Ho painting village, Phu Lang ceramic village and Xuan Lai bamboo village.

Tourists visit the exhibition corner of the Buddhism woodblocks at Bo Da pagoda.

Bac Giang has big advantages in ecological, leisure and spiritual tourism with renown landscapes such as Tay Yen Tu, Mo stream, Khe Ro primitive forest and Cam Son lake in line with pagoda system including Vinh Nghiem and Bo Da pagodas, the remarkable destinations on the spiritual tourism journey in the Northeast region.

Both provinces have supporting advantages for tourism development. Bac Ninh is rich in cultural heritages while Bac Giang boasts strengths in natural and ecological landscapes.

In fact, tourism is a highly inter-sectoral and inter-regional economic sector. A successful tourism product often requires smooth coordination among different localities and businesses. Collaboration and linkage play an extremely important role for sustainable tourism development.

Looking back the results gained before July 1, 2025, the former Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces had implemented a number of collaboration activities to connect tours, routes and tourist sites and organized many promotional events to attract tourists.

According to Director of the Culture and Tourism Promotion Center of Bac Ninh province Nguyen Xuan Thuy, they often organise survey tours to the tourist sites with participation of travel agents from the province and neighbouring localities including Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong and Lang Son.

Through these efforts, provinces and cities have exchanged information and coordinated to develop new directions for local tourism development, effectively tap into the regional tourism resources and jointly create new tourism products, forming a variety of tours and routes.

Many tourist sites and destinations attract a large number of visitors such as Tay Yen Tu spiritual and ecological tourism complex, Vinh Nghiem pagoda, Bo Da pagoda, Mo stream, the relic sites of Yen The Uprising, Ven village community-based tourist site, Do temple, Dau pagoda, Phat Tich pagoda and Ba Chua Kho temple.

Particularly, tourism connection has been proactively implemented at Tay Yen Tu spiritual and ecological tourism complex. The company has signed about 70 contracts with travel agents with commitments to take tourists to the tourism complex, said Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, the Executive Director.

Despite gaining initial results, the province still needs to build a general tourism development strategy with long-term vision to develop tourism of the new Bac Ninh province as a driving force for socio-economic development according to experts’ opinions.

Of which, it is necessary to clearly position tourism in the economic development strategy with flagship tourism products (cultural and spiritual tourism, ecological and leisure tourism, community-based tourism and craft village tourism), key tourism centers and incentive policies for investment in developing tourism infrastructure.

Besides, it is very important to invest in integrated traffic infrastructure and services, expand and upgrade routes connecting to key tourist sites, build toilet systems, parking lots and tourist information centers as well as develop intra and inter-provincial bus routes to serve tourists.

In addition, it is essential to boost digital transformation and tourism promotion. Use digital technology to develop digital tourism map of Bac Ninh province and application for information search and online booking.

The province should also promote tourism on social networks and cooperate with international mass media to broaden its outreach. Besides, it needs to pay attention to training for human resource development and raising community’s awareness of tourism development.
