Lang Giang raises level of agricultural products
BAC GIANG - Expanding production links, promoting brand building and consuming typical OCOP products... are the direction chosen by many local farmers in Lang Giang district (Bac Giang province). This helps diversify agricultural products, promote agricultural commodity production and improve people's lives.
Clean and unique
The farm area of the Ho Cao Lake Cooperative in Huong Son commune is located far from the residential area and surrounded by a lake. Hoang Le Hai (born 1987), Director of the Cooperative, said: "Previously, my family raised low-quality chickens which were sold hard at low prices because consumers increasingly demanded high quality. Realizing that, I switched to raise good breed chickens for meat and egg. Although the price is more expensive, the products are well received by the market."

Hai's transformation journey lasted many years. At first, he was not satisfied with the product so researched ways to process food and supplement nutrition to make chicken meat and eggs more delicious.
Up to now, the Cooperative has 7 members and regularly raises about 100,000 egg-laying chickens and 10,000 broiler chickens, with an average revenue of 500 million VND (over 21,200 USD) per month.
Recently, the local farmers have actively participated in the emulation movement of good production and business to get rich together and reduce poverty sustainably. Many good models and methods have been summarized which boldly create unique products instead of following the crowd.
Quang Thinh commune has many arid hills. Surveys showed that the soil was suitable for grapes so some households tested the Ha Den grape variety. Nguyen Thi Hoa's family in Cau Den village was one of the first households to plant this crop and now has more than 1,500 roots.
Hoa shared: "Thanks to technical assistance from the seed supplier, my family invested in building a membrane house, a metal truss system, using organic fertilizers and biological pesticides. The grape is irrigated with clean water so the it grows well. After 3 years, the grapes can be harvested. In this crop, the fruits are sold at good price so my family can earn more than 500 million VND."
Currently, Quang Thinh commune has more than 10 hectares of grapes. In addition to the Ha Den variety, some households are cultivating the Korean milk grape variety together with tourism business by welcoming visitors to the vineyards to increase income.
Help farmers get rich
This year, the entire district has more than 18,300 farmers’ households registering to achieve the title of good production and business. To help them earn higher income, the associations at all levels have promoted propaganda and mobilized farmers to change their crop structure and improve economic efficiency.
Along with that, the associations assist members to access development policies for hi-tech, organic and circular agriculture, apply digital transformation in production, and cooperation in consuming agricultural products.
In the coming time, the district will focus on maintaining recognized OCOP products; upgrading and orienting the development of key, strong products participating in the OCOP program as well as promoting brand building, linking production and consumption of typical products.
Le Cong Sy, Chairman of the District Farmers' Association, said to achieve the year's goals, all levels of the Association will improve the quality and effectiveness of the farmer movement to emulate good production and business to get rich together and reduce poverty sustainably.
The association strives to build and replicate pilot models, models linking production, processing and consumption of agricultural products while directing the restructuring of crops and livestock, developing cooperative economy and farm economy.
