Welcoming the delegation were Major General Le Van Dang, Deputy Director of the Department of Operations under the VPA General Staff; Colonel Nguyen Van Lich, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 1; Colonel Pham Van Tao, Commander of the provincial Military Command; and Colonel Vu Duc Hien, Political Commissar of the provincial Military Command.

At the working session, a representative of the provincial Military Command briefed the Lao guests on the establishment, construction and development of Bac Giang province and its armed forces. The provincial armed forces always cherish the precious sentiments of the people and armies of the two countries that have been cultivated by many previous generations.

Over the past time, implementing the cooperation agreement between the People's Committee of Bac Giang province and the government of Laos’ Xaysomboun province for the 2021-2025 period, from March 2023 to July 2024, Saysomboun sent four delegations to Bac Giang province.

Bac Giang has organised five working delegations to Saysomboun province. During the working visits, the two sides regularly shared experience, good and creative practices in socio-economic development and cultural exchange, creating good impressions and affection between the officials and people of the two provinces and the two countries.

Major General Kongthong Soukhavong appreciated Bac Giang’s building of armed forces, saying Bac Giang province has well performed the task of conducting defense zone exercises.

“We look forward to the help and support of Bac Giang province so that in the future, the Lao army can conduct defense zone exercises at the provincial level like Vietnam,” he stated.

Major General Le Van Dang informed the Lao delegation on the role and tasks of the provincial Military Command; the relationship between the regular forces, the militia and self-defense forces, and the specific tasks of each force; the work of building defense zones at all levels of Vietnam in peacetime as well as when war breaks out; the role and responsibility of the provincial Military Command in ensuring national defense when the locality allocates land to foreign investors who invest in industrial parks and export processing zones.

On the same day, the Lao delegation visited the production area of ​​the provincial Military Command in Bac Ly town, Hiep Hoa district.
