(BGO) – The competent agencies and districts in Bac Giang province have focused on instructing and supervising the lychee orchard owners to strictly follow the caring procedure, ensure the conditions to stamp the product for origin traceability as regulation toward a smooth consumption and satisfaction of export standard, especially for Japanese market.

Due instruction and supported expense

This year, the province has 28,000 ha of lychee with estimated output of 180,000 tonnes of fruits including more than 200 ha of lychee to export to Japan with 30 area codes; 218 ha to export to the US, EU with 18 area codes and 15,867ha to export to China with 149 area codes. To assist the parties in stamping for lychee origin traceability, the province approved for the expenses, assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to support the cooperatives and businesses specialized at lychee production and consumption in Luc Ngan district to make stamp, label and package. The People’s Committee in Luc Ngan district also supports 50 percent of expenses to make stamp for origin traceability for the qualified cooperatives and businesses.

The locality has coordinated with VNPT Bac Giang to finalize the form of stamp, label as well as package specification; establish online lychee caring diary to ease the farmers, customers in checking and monitoring the products via a smart phone. At the same time, the cooperatives and businesses have actively implemented measured to enhance the product quality and condition for export.

According to the statistic from competent agencies, the province now has more than 40 alliances, cooperatives specialized at lychee production and consumption as well as hundreds of packing facilities with sufficient stamp and label. Thus, apart from managing, instructing the production households to ensure the procedure, the competent agencies continue inspecting and controlling over the packing facilities to prevent selling the labels and stamps to the markets, which facilitates lychee with poor quality to reduce the prestige of Bac Giang special fruit.

Strictly following the procedure

Recently, Luc Ngan lychee has been granted geographical indication (GI) in Japan as first ever product in Vietnam. It helps widen the door for lychee to enter global market.

Since early this year, the province has focused on instructing the districts to produce lychee unders alliances and cooperative; strictly controlling over the growing area code (GAC); boosting up technology application into production following safe procedure or VietGAP, GlobalGAP via installing camera for supervision, recording caring dairy...to support the management and origin traceability.
