Many Vietnamese athletes win on first day of competition
BAC GIANG – The competition of the Li-Ning Vietnam International Series 2024 officially started at 9:00 a.m. on November 12 at Bac Giang Provincial Gymnasium.
The tournament gathered 197 athletes from 15 countries and territories including: Australia, Indonesia, India, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Thailand, Taiwan (China) and Vietnam to compete in five categories: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.

60 matches took place in the qualifying round, the 1/64 round and the 1/32 round in men's singles, women's singles and women's doubles on November 12. Vietnamese athletes competed in 29 matches in men's singles, women's singles and women's doubles.

As of 4:15 p.m. on the same day, the Vietnamese badminton team had won 12 matches, typically the easy victory of Vietnam's No. 1 player Nguyen Tien Minh over Chung Li Eric Choo (Malaysia); the women's pair Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan - Than Van Anh against their opponents from Taiwan (China): Huang Sheng - Chun and Chia Yi Kung among others.
