More than 8,000 people join Olympic Run for public health 2026 in Bac Ninh
BAC NINH - More than 8,000 people took part in the 2026 Olympic Run for Public Health in Bac Ninh on March 8, an event aimed at promoting community fitness and encouraging wider participation in sports across the province.
The event took place at the Kinh Bac Cultural Center Square in Vu Ninh Ward and was jointly organized by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Olympic Committee, and several local agencies and organizations.

Attending the opening ceremony were Nguyen Van Manh, Secretary General of the Vietnam Olympic Committee; Tran Thi Hang, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Bac Ninh People’s Council; Mai Son, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Ta Dang Doan, Secretary of the Kinh Bac Ward Party Committee, along with representatives from provincial departments, organizations, athletes and local residents.
The large turnout highlighted the growing popularity of grassroots sports movements in the province.

Among the participants, more than 2,000 people joined the ceremonial run responding to the Olympic Run campaign, while nearly 300 athletes competed in the Nagakawa Cross-Country Run – Bac Ninh Newspaper and Radio and Television Cup. Meanwhile, more than 6,000 runners took part in the Bac Ninh Legacy Marathon – Footprints of Quan Ho Land.
Participants came from diverse backgrounds, including officials, armed forces personnel, civil servants, youth union members, students, workers, elderly residents, as well as amateur and professional athletes.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, provincial leaders and representatives of agencies and organizations joined thousands of athletes, coaches, students, soldiers and residents in a mass run around the streets surrounding the Kinh Bac Cultural Center Square.
Following the ceremonial run, nearly 300 athletes from 28 communes, wards and provincial sectors competed in the Nagakawa cross-country race under the theme “Stay healthy to build careers and defend the nation.”
The competition featured championship races across age groups as well as overall championship events. Notably, the men’s and women’s championship races were included in the competition program for cross-country running at the first Bac Ninh Provincial Sports Games.

At the same time, the Bac Ninh Legacy Marathon – Footprints of Quan Ho Land attracted more than 6,000 professional and amateur runners from Vietnam and abroad. Athletes competed in four distances: 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and the full marathon of 42 km.
At the end of the competitions, organizers presented awards to outstanding athletes in each category, recognizing their achievements and encouraging further participation in sports activities across the province.
