The competition took place from 20 to 22 March at Phenikaa university, Hanoi luring participation of 457 junior and senior high school students from 34 provinces and cites and universities. They are authors and co-authors of 242 projects in 21 fields, an increase of 30 projects compared to the 2024-2025 school year.

The project winning first prize by 2 students of Ngo Si Lien High School and teacher Vu Tien Thanh (the instructor).

Bac Ninh Education Department selected 6 outstanding projects (those winning first and second prizes at provincial level) to participate in the national-level competition.

At the summary and award ceremony, MOET gave 145 prizes including 14 first prizes, 29 second prizes, 44 third prizes and 58 fourth prizes. Outstanding and feasible projects will be selected and completed to compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in June 2026 in the US.

Bac Ninh’s Education Sector was honoured to have 5 out of 6 projects winning prizes at the competition comprising 1 first, 1 second, 1 third and 2 fourth prizes.

The first prize came to the project “Researching and creating smart hospital beds integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) to support health care and warning” by 2 grade-11 students of Ngo Si Lien High School who are Bui The Chinh and Hoang Quynh Nga.

The second prize was awarded to the project “Smart dormitory management system for high schools integrating AI, IoT, and renewable energy” by Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students.

The third prize came to the project “AI application in dermatology diagnosis using image-based, cross-platform operation- DermAI” by Bac Ninh FPT Primary, Secondary and High School.

The fourth prizes were awarded to the “Tradition-Modern touchpoint, inspiring high school students’ interest in the cultural heritage of Bac Ninh quan ho folk songs in the digital age” project by Han Thuyen High School and “AI- and big data-driven optimization of plastic packaging design for sustainable development” project by Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students.

Prime Minister commends Vietnamese students winning international prizes

According to the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), over the past decade, Vietnamese student teams competing in international academic contests have won a total of 434 prizes, including 132 gold, 169 silver and 133 bronze medals, along with certificates of merit. Many students achieved consecutive gold medals over two years, while some secured gold medals when they were 10th graders.

In 2025, Viet Nam fielded seven teams at international and regional Olympiad competitions, with 37 students competing and all winning medals, including 13 golds, 16 silvers and eight bronzes—an increase of one gold and one silver compared with 2024.

Vietnamese students top ASEAN in Math, Reading under SEA-PLM 2024

Vietnam continued to lead the region in both key areas. The average Reading score was 323.5 points and Mathematics 334.6 points, maintaining the top positions despite slight declines from 2019. Some 66% of Vietnamese pupils reached advanced proficiency in Reading while the regional average was 40% and 88% in Mathematics with the regional average reaching 36%.

 

All 6 Hanoi students win medals at 22nd International Junior Science Olympiad

All six students representing Vietnam at the 22nd International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO 2025) in Russia have won medals, securing three silvers and three bronzes, according to Hanoi’s Department of Education and Training.
