The titles are billed to recognise the artists’ significant dedication and contributions to developing the culture sector and safeguarding Vietnam’s traditional cultural values.

Actress Kim Xuan is one of artists to be presented with People’s Artist title.

The outstanding artists work in various fields such as music, dance, cinematography, radio and television, and stage arts.

They include celebrated names such as actors Minh Duc and Tran Hanh, actress Kim Xuan, cheo (traditional opera) artists Doan Thanh Binh and Thanh Ngoan, and cai luong (reformed theatre) artists Minh Vuong and Thanh Tuan.

The honourees were selected from 84 submissions for People’s Artist nominees and 307 submissions for Meritorious Artist nominees.

An awards ceremony to confer the titles is scheduled to be held on National Day, September 2.
