BAC GIANG- The festival to mark
140th anniversary of Yen The Uprising (1884-2024) (Yen The festival)
took place from 15 to 17 March 2024. According to the people’s committee of Yen
The district, more than 200,000 tourists flocked to Yen The during the 3-day
festival including many visitors from other provinces, an increase of about 70,000
arrivals compared to last year.
The festival was successful ensuring safety and meeting the expectations. The ceremonial session was held solemnly with rich cultural identities. It also included various interesting cultural, sports and tourism activities imbued with local features in line with impressive new activities creating a cheerful atmosphere.

Despite the large number of locals and visitors attending the festival, the security, traffic safety and firefighting were guaranteed. The environmental hygiene and food safety were also well implemented. The district youth union mobilized nearly 1,000 young people to join hands with other forces to clean up and gather garbage in the festival area.
This year festival was hosted by the provincial People’s Committee to pay tribute to the troop leaders and immortal spirit of Yen The insurgents while honouring national cultural values and promoting solidarity, patriotism and determination to protect the nation.
Specially, the festival had some new activities such as the exhibition of artifacts and documents of Yen The Uprising, National Elite Wrestling Championship, a performance gathering nearly 1,000 artists and soldiers of the People’s Public Security’s Theatre, the trumpet orchestra and performance of the cavalry team of the Ministry of Public Security.

Historical relic sites of Yen The Uprising
BAC GIANG- Yen The
uprising was the biggest and longest farmers’ insurrection in late 19th
century and early 20th century. The relic sites relating this
uprising are located in a large area. Of which, 23 relic sites in northern
province of Bac Giang province were ranked national relics which demonstrate
the process to form the armed force and struggles of the insurgents.
