Quintessence of Ao Dai converges at Thang Long Imperial Citadel
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Hanoi (October 10, 1954 - 2024), on the evening of October 4, at the World Cultural Heritage Site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, the Hanoi People's Committee opened the Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival 2024.
Six artisans and 85 famous designers from across the country are participating in this year's Ao Dai Tourism Festival.

Thang Long Imperial Citadel is designed to honour the beauty of Ao Dai, with more than 100 booths of designers, artisans, tourism organisations and localities.
Within the framework of the Festival, the Ao Dai Carnival took place on the morning of October 5.
This is a large-scale art performance and parade organised by the Hanoi Women's Union in coordination with the Department of Tourism to spread the love of Ao Dai to numerous people, friends and international tourists of all ages and genders.
More than 1,000 women wearing Ao Dai will parade through the streets around the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and pass by famous heritages. At the same time, Ao Dai performances will also take place in many localities across the city.
The wearing of “ao dai” (traditional long dress) costume and tailoring craft of the dress has been recognised as a national intangible heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the fourth such recognition in the central province.
Hanoi-styled ‘pho’ and the craft of tailoring Ao Dai in Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province, have recently been recognised as national intangible cultural heritages by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The 2024 Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival will take place at the Thang Long-Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre in Hanoi from October 4 to 6, according to a decision approved by the municipal People’s Committee.
The 2024 Hue Community Ao Dai (long dress) Week was launched on June 24 in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, aiming to preserving and promoting the beauty of the Vietnamese traditional costume.
Around 5,500 people clad in Ao Dai (traditional Vietnamese gown) joined a parade in Dong Thap Province on May 19.
