Reopening of Kim Thanh border gate in Lao Cai eases lychee consumption

(BGO) - The Management Board of Lao Cai border gates accounced the resumption of import and export activities at 4pm on July 5, 2022 via Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No.2 (Lao Cai province) after recovering Covid-19 relating incident on July 5, 2022.

Right after the resumption, the Border Gate Management Board in He Kou district (China) urged the Management Board of Lao Cai border gates to arrange staff and handle procedures for all vehicles carrying import and export commodities via Kim Thanh border gate till 10 pm on July 5, 2022, helping clear the customs for 20 waiting trucks transporting Bac Giang lychees.

Previously, Chinese side detected SARS-CoV-2 virus in commodities exported from Vietnam so Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No.2 suspended the import and export activities from July 4.

The reopening of the border gate eases the consumption of Bac Giang lychee. About 130 trucks carrying Bac Giang lychees daily are cleared the customs procedure to enter Chinese market, over 100 of which pass Tan Thanh and Huu Nghi border gates in Lang Son and the remaining ones pass Kim Thanh border gate.

As of July 5, Bac Giang province sold over 131,000 tonnes of lychee, over 57,600 tonnes of which were exported.

According to Luc Ngan division of Economy and Infrastructure, on July 5, Luc Ngan lychees were sold at average price of 13 – 28,000 VND per kg. The price of utility services were stable with sufficient supply.

Now, 1,118 dryers are operating in Luc Ngan district, including 4 heat pumps and coal dryers mostly in the communes of Deo Gai, Tan Lap, Phu Nhuan and Bien Son which dried over 4,800 tonnes of fresh lychee.

(BGO) – Though the main lychee season has come for about half of month in Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province, it has attracted dozens thousand of visitors.
