Singer Soobin Hoang Son wins big at the 19th Devotion Awards

The popularity of singer Soobin Hoang Son and “Anh trai vuot ngan chong gai" (Call Me By Fire Vietnam) concert shows no signs of waning, as most of the awards in the music category of 'Cong hien' (Devotion) Awards were claimed by figures associated with the programme. Soobin Hoang Son alone secured three awards.

The 19th Cong hien (Devotion) Awards ceremony was organised by the Vietnam News Agency’s The Thao & Van Hoa (Sports and Culture) Newspaper at the Hanoi Opera House on March 5.

The Best Album award went to “Bat no len” (Turn it on) by Soobin, winning with 45.2% of the vote. Soobin also secured two other major awards including Male Artist of the Year and the Best Music Video for “Gia nhu” (If).

In 2024, Soobin solidified his position with a series of groundbreaking musical projects and meticulously crafted artistic activities, helping redefine styles and revitalise Vietnam’s mainstream music scene.

He is also a prominent participant in the show “Anh trai vuot ngan chong gai”, generating strong media traction, with most of his performances quickly going viral across social media platforms.

The live concert series “Anh trai vuot ngan chong gai”, produced by Yeah1, reaffirmed its place in the hearts of audiences by winning the Series of the Year award with 53.4% of the vote.

“Anh trai vuot ngan chong gai” is also recognised as a significant breakthrough in Vietnam’s cultural industry over the past year.

Music director of the concert, SlimV, who played a key role in coordinating the music for the programme, was also honoured as the Producer of the Year.

The Programme of the Year award belonged to SKYNote by singer Quoc Thien, who is also an artist from “Anh trai vuot ngan chong gai” programme. SKYNote is a live show marking Quốc Thiên's nearly 20-year journey in the music industry.

The most viral song of the year, “Tai sinh”(Reborn) by composer Tang Duy Tan, performed with the powerful vocals of Divo Tung Duong, won the Song of the Year award with 69.8% of the votes.

Tung Duong has also been nominated a total of 23 times across different categories in the Devotion Awards (as of this season) and has won the Devotion trophy 14 times.

The New Artist of the Year award went to Duong Domic, while Phan Manh Quynh was honoured with the Musician of the Year award. Singer Trang Phap won the Female Artist of the Year award.

In addition to the 10 main categories, the Impressive Devotion Award was presented to the organisers of the Youth Programme Concert for their creativity and groundbreaking innovation.

This year, the organising committee and the voting council also decided to present the Inspiring Artist award to Professor – Honorary Doctor – World Record Holder – Artist Chu Bao Que for his significant contributions to the preservation, safeguarding, and promotion of Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Devotion Awards, the organisers presented a special commemorative trophy, which is an Italian gold-plated Devotion Cup, to musicians Duong Thu and Duc Thinh, and singers Tung Duong and My Tam, for their contributions to the awards over the past years.

This year, Devotion Awards in the sport category included the Sports Achievement of the Year to the national men’s football team for their remarkable achievement of winning the ASEAN Cup 2024, the Athlete of the Year to striker Nguyen Xuan Son, who was also the Best Player and also the Top Scorer at the ASEAN Cup 2024 with seven goals, the Young Athlete of the Year to canoeist Nguyen Thi Huong for her remarkable accomplishments, and the Spirit of Devotion to the Dong Luc Joint Stock Company.

On the occasion, the organiser held an auction for a golden nightingale cup following traditional standards. The entire proceeds will be donated to build and repair classrooms for children in remote areas, supported by the The Thao & Van Hoa Newspaper.
