Smart tourism brings heritages closer to tourists
BAC NINH - Application of digital technology is driving positive changes in Bac Ninh’s tourism sector, contributing to innovation of promotional activities, enhancing visitor experience, promoting the values of cultural heritages and gradually shaping modern and friendly destinations.
Increasing experience with digital technology
Coming to tourist attractions across the province such as Mo stream, Vinh Nghiem pagoda, Bo Da pagoda, Phat Tich pagoda, Dau pagoda, But Thap pagoda, Do temple, or Kinh Duong Vuong mausoleum, visitors can easily find information signs with QR codes.

With smart phones connected to internet, users can easily access information systems of history, architect and cultural values of the relics lively illustrated with pictures and video clips.
The information systems enable visitors to discover and explore destinations at their own pace and according to their personal interests.
Currently, the provincial Culture and Tourism Promotion Center is running the tourism portal and website myBacNinh to enable visitors to conveniently search for information on scenic landscapes, historical and cultural sites, traditional craft villages, festivals, local specialties as well as recommended tourism routes and destinations.
Notably, the VR360 virtual reality tourism application developed in 2024 has been proving effective in promoting the image of the locality.
Through smartphones, computers or tablets, visitors can experience digital spaces of various destinations such as Tay Yen Tu, Vinh Nghiem pagoda, Mo stream, Xuong Giang temple, Ven village and the ancient Da huong (1000-year-old camphor) tree.
Aerial imagery combined with 3D technology provides a realistic experience, making viewers feel as if they are physically present at the destinations.
According to Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Director of the provincial Culture and Tourism Promotion Center, this agency has surveyed and developed VR360 application for 28 tourism sites and destinations in the entire province, contributing to diversifying promotional methods and enhancing tourists ‘access.
Completing infrastructure for data connection
At Bac Ninh Museum No. 1, technology application in heritage preservation and promotion has been intensified.
Many artifacts have been stamped with QR codes, allowing visitors not only to view images and access information but also to listen to AI-powered audio explanations. This innovation helps enhance visitor experience without reliance on tour guides.
In late 2025, Bac Ninh Museum No. 2 collaborated with its partners to develop the communication channel "Go to Bac Ninh" on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and Youtube.
With a visual and language identity featuring distinctive cultural characters of Kinh Bac region, the province’s communication products highlight its heritage, traditional craft villages, festivals, cuisine, ecological landscapes and iconic destinations, helping broaden outreach to both domestic and international tourists.
Under the master plan for tourism development of Bac Ninh province in the 2026- 2030 period approved by the provincial Party Committee, the province sets the targets that 100 percent of key tourist sites and attractions will apply digital technologies in management, operation, promotion and promotional activities; 80 percent of tourist sites will apply smart, multilingual interpretation systems and 100 percent of special national relic sites, outstanding cultural heritages and key destinations will have digital profiles and databases integrated into the province’s smart tourism platform.
In order to realize the set targets, the provincial Party Committee outlined a range of tasks and solutions, including stimulating digital transformation in tourism sector, developing a unified smart tourism data ecosystem and applying digital technologies in management, promotion as well as enhancing visitor experience.
Besides, the province will strengthen human resource training to meet the requirements of international integration, according to Do Tuan Khoa, Vice Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
