Son Dong district expands outstanding models in ethnic minority groups
The face of Lua village (now Lua residential group) in An Chau town has dramatically changed. It was one of the poorest localities in the district but now the residential group has cultural house, sports playground and wide concrete roads with convenient traffic.

The projects were completed thanks to positive engagement of Mong Van Minh (born in 1976), leader of the residential group in communicating and mobilizing to gain people’s consensus.
Since 2016, he has mobilized 26 households to donate more than 5,000 m2 of land to build cultural house, sports playground and expand the inter-residential group roads.

Besides, the residential group has a concentrated burial area, concreted field roads, clean and beautiful environmental landscapes thanks to joint efforts of the locals.
In the ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Son Dong district, there are also a number of good business models. Nguyen Thi Nhu in Mat village, Vinh An commune is among good examples who is successful in wine production combined with livestock and plantation earning an annual income of 500 million VND (20,417 USD) and creating stable jobs for 7 local labourers.

Her family has planted 2,000 fruit trees and fed 50 breeding cows in their garden.
Besides, Vi Van Gioi in Na Vang village, Van Son commune succeeded in raising 6-feet chicken. Vu Ngoc Huan in Na O village, An Lac commune is successful in community-based tourism gaining an annual income of over 200 million VND (8,167 USD).

The households have been encouraged to change bus iness models in agricultural production gaining initial efficiency. Many signature products of the district such as honey, bamboo shoot, green lingzhi mushroom, Tay Yen Tu fermented leaf wine and noodle have been recognized OCOP products.
The outstanding individuals and collectives not only enrich themselves but also make dramatic contributions to local socio-economic development, creating jobs and incomes for local people, securing political security and social order in the locality.
