Updated: 08:45, 11/11/2025

BAC NINH- After merging 2 communes of Tan Son and Cam Son (belonging to former Luc Ngan district), the mountainous commune of Tan Son in northern province of Bac Ninh is not only expanded the natural land area to over 9,500 hectares but it also converges many cultural values and potentials for agricultural and tourism development.

The soil and climate condition in Tan Son is suitable for a variety of high-value fruits. In the last tenure, the commune has concentrated on commodity agriculture development applying science and technology and establishing production and consumption linkage groups.

Poetic beauty in ancient Bac Hoa village.

Nearly 1,300 hectares of citrus plants, jujube, lychee and 1-hectare plum orchard in Khuon Khen village are main income resources for local people. In line with crop cultivation, livestock in Tan Son is also strongly developed. Particularly, the herd of horses brings about horse meat products, bone extract, fermented horse roll and breeding horses.

Application of high technologies in production helps to increase productivity and product quality as well as forming sustainable linkage chains between farmers and markets.

Vivid red lychee hills, fruitful jujube fields and blossom plum gardens are clear evidence for efficiency of the commodity production models. Besides, they also become attractive destinations for tourists to check in, yielding dual economic values for local people in the high land of Tan Son.

Tan Son is endowed with both fruitful orchards and unique tourism values. The old traditional houses with yin-yang roof tiles, ancient earthen houses, winding roads and pristine landscapes in Bac Hoa village and vast Cam Son lake open up new opportunities for the commune in combining agricultural development with ecological and community-based tourism.

Bac Hoa village has seventeen 100-year-old ancient houses with over 100 residents.

Cam Son lake, a large natural lake surrounded by mountains and evergreen fruit gardens, has become an ideal destination for eco- tourism.

Pure-white blossom plum orchards and bright red lychee hills attract tourists to experience harvesting and enjoying fruits right at the gardens.

The highland fairs and sloong hao singing festival are 2 must-see cultural highlights in Tan Son. The local markets take place on the 2nd, 7th, 12th, 17th, 22nd and 27th of lunar calendar. Especially, the fair on the 12th day of lunar January (normally called Thac Luoi Love Fair) is not just a place for trading but it is also a dating destination for young men and girls in this high land as well as a place for cultural exchange and preservation.

Sloong hao singing festival, a traditional event of the Tay and Nung ethnic people in spring, allows visitors to experience the unique rhythm life in mountainous ares, where every corner is filled with vibrant culture and traditional charm.
