The event will feature the participation of 12 silk and brocade villages in Vietnam as well as seven Asian countries including China, Italy, India and Japan, among others.

The highlight of the festival will be the opening ceremony on June 12 and the reproduction of the 'silk road on the sea' established some 300 years ago as a route between Hoi An to China, Japan and some western countries.

The festival will also feature a wide variety of other unique and impressive activities such as an incense offering ceremony to the Queen of silk Doan Quy Phi and traditional dance performances.

An international silk exhibition will showcase silk products from Japan, China and India along with others as well as from numerous Vietnamese famous trade villages such as Van Phuc, Thai Binh and Bao Loc,

Visitors to the festival will be introduced to the technique of traditional brocade weaving of the Katu, Khmer and Cham ethnic people as well as silk weaving techniques of Van Phuc (Hanoi) and Ma Chau villages and tussore weaving of Thai Binh.

Workshops themed 'silk in the modern lifestyle' and ‘measures to develop the Vietnamese silk industry’ will be held within the two-day festival, gathering artisans, enterprises and researchers from Vietnam and a number of foreign countries.

The event will be a chance for Vietnam to expand its international co-operation and promote Hoi An’s cultural heritage to the world.
