Wheelchairs and Samsung scholarships offered to people with disabilities and impoverished students

BAC GIANG - The Bac Giang provincial Study Promotion Association, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Samsung Electronics Vietnam Company Limited (Samsung) on November 1 organized an event at the conventional hall of Bac Giang city People’s Committee to present wheelchairs to people with disabilities and scholarships to impoverished students.

Representatives of Samsung presented 150 wheelchairs and gifts to disabled people in Hiep Hoa, Lang Giang districts and Bac Giang city together with 200 scholarships (each worth 2 million VND) and gifts to difficult students with good academic results in 10 districts and city. The total value of gifts and scholarships reached 850 million VND (35,600 USD).

This is the 7th year and 5th year Samsung has dedicated the welfare funds to award scholarships to students and donate wheelchairs to people with disabilities in the province respectively.

Since implementing the program, the company has donated 1,400 scholarships worth nearly 2 billion VND to students, 600 wheelchairs and gifts worth more than 900 million VND to people with disabilities.

Besides, Samsung has paid due attention to investing and supporting many social security programs and projects in the province, including the "Samsung’s Hope School " project in Hiep Hoa district with a total value of 19.7 billion VND which was inaugurated and put into use from October 2021.
