Workers return on time, factories resume full operations after Lunar New Year

Updated: 16:37, 25/02/2026

BAC NINH – Factories across Bac Ninh province resumed stable operations shortly after the Lunar New Year holiday, with more than 90% of workers returning on the first working day and production lines running smoothly.

With some companies operating both day and night shifts, the rate expected to reach nearly 100% by the ninth day of the lunar month, with only a small number of workers on extended leave due to long-distance travel.

The production line at Crystal Martin Vietnam Company Limited resumes stable operation soon after Lunar New Year holiday.

At industrial parks, workers quickly resumed their routines, reflecting an improvement from previous years when post-holiday absenteeism was more common.

At Crystal Martin Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Quang Chau Industrial Park, nearly all of its more than 10,300 employees were present on the first working day. To boost morale, the company organized a spring launch celebration featuring lion dances, lucky money gifts and a raffle with more than 2,000 household appliance prizes.

Nguyen Thi Thoa, the company’s administrative and human resources director, said nearly 90% of workers returned on the first day, with absentees providing valid reasons in advance.

For the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the company awarded all employees a Tet bonus equivalent to one month of basic salary, averaging about 5.8 million VND per person, and coordinated with the trade union to provide additional support to disadvantaged workers.

At ASKEY Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Que Vo Industrial Park, where around 80% of employees are from other provinces, management introduced retention policies to ensure a timely return to work.

Workers received 200,000 VND in lucky money on the first working day. Those completing full eight-hour shifts during the first four working days of the year were granted an additional 200,000 VND per day. Out-of-province workers were also given travel allowances of 500,000 VND each.

Nguyen Thi Tinh, head of production at the company, said that over the past three years, more than 90% of employees have returned on schedule thanks to such incentives.

Bac Ninh currently has more than 26,000 active enterprises employing around 820,000 workers, including approximately 600,000 in industrial parks. Authorities said labor shortages following the Lunar New Year have eased significantly in recent years, with return-to-work rates consistently exceeding 90% in the first days after the holiday.

Thach Van Chung, Vice Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Chairman of the provincial Labor Federation, said most workers no longer display a “grass is greener” mentality and tend to remain with employers for longer periods.

Labor shortages following the Lunar New Year have eased significantly in recent years, with return-to-work rates consistently exceeding 90% in the first days after the holiday.

He attributed the improvement to better wages, bonuses and welfare policies, particularly around the Tet holiday, when companies ensure timely salary payments and provide meaningful appreciation activities.

This year, 57 enterprises arranged for more than 33,500 employees to work through the holiday period. Luxshare-ICT (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. in Quang Chau Industrial Park mobilized over 1,600 workers to fulfill new orders scheduled for shipment immediately after Tet. In addition to statutory holiday pay, employees received extra daily bonuses, significantly boosting their income.

The company plans to recruit about 60,000 workers in 2026, including roughly 5,000 in the first quarter alone.

Tran Van Ha, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Home Affairs, said timely salary payments, Tet bonuses, travel support and lucky money are practical measures that help employees feel secure and committed to their companies.

However, he added that businesses must also continue improving working conditions, invest in worker housing, cultural facilities and childcare services to ensure a stable labor force and foster harmonious labor relations.
