The Ministry of Construction issued Decision No 1315/QD-BXD dated July 28 on recognising Bac Ninh province as a first-class urban area, marking an important milestone in the cause of urbanisation and affirming the province’s status in the national urban network.

Under the Decision, the recognized area covers the entire administrative boundary of Bac Ninh province with a total natural area of 4,713.75 square kilometres and a population of nearly 4 million in 2025.

This serves as an important legal foundation for Bac Ninh to further refine its urban development model and advance toward its goal of becoming a centrally governed city in coming time.

Particularly, it met 5 out of 6 standards in the criteria group of location, role and socio-economic development conditions, 3 out of 4 standards in urbanization level and 4 out of 5 standards in level of infrastructure development and urban spatial organization.

These figures strongly demontrate the province’s rapid urbanisation, solid socio-economic foundation and increasingly integrated infrastructure system.

Moreover, Bac Ninh is one of the localities with high economic growth rate and leading the nation in foreign investment attraction.

In coming time, Bac Ninh province will continue completing the remaining criteria, improve infrastructure quality, promote green and smart urban development while strengthening planning management and effectively utilising resources.

These efforts will contribute to realising its goals of developing a modern, livable, and sustainable urban area.
