Agricultural promotion model associated with tourism flourishes in Bac Giang
In 2018, the entire Yen The district grew more than 520 hectares of tea mostly in Xuan Luong and Canh Nau communes, but only a small area was planted according to VietGAP procedures.

At the same year, the Provincial Agricultural Promotion Center coordinated with the Yen The District Agricultural Technical Service Center to deploy an organic tea production model with a scale of 9 hectares in the two above mentioned communes.
Its goal was to change people's way of thinking and working, helping increase the economic efficiency, protect the environment toward community ecotourism development.
Accordingly, 36 participating households were supported with 50 percent of organic fertilizer cost and 50 percent of biological protection drugs together with technical instructions.
Dam Thi Sy in Ven village, Xuan Luong commune said that thanks to proper application of techniques, the average productivity reaches 450 kg of dry tea per hectare per batch (1.5 times higher than the traditional cultivation). The price of tea grown in line with new method increases by about 20 percent because the product is clean, safe and environmentally friendly.
From the initial 7 sao (old measuring unit of tea equal to 360 square meters), her family expanded to 10 sao. Other households participating in the model also increased their tea growing area using organic methods; joined the linkage of tea production and deep processing associated with tourism.
In 2022, the cooperative's Green Ven Village community tourism destination was rated 3-star service under One Commune One Product programme (OCOP), welcoming tens of thousands of visitors each year and generating billions of dong in profits.
In addition to the above model, recently, the Provincial Agricultural Promotion Center has also built many models such as growing VietGAP lychees and melons in Luc Ngan and Yen Dung districts combined with experiential tourism...
Apart from them, there are many other models implemented by the Agricultural Technical Service Centers of districts and cities, showing positive results.
According to Le Hong Giang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Agricultural Promotion Center, the agricultural promotion models associated with tourism development are mainly in the field of cultivation.
To effectively maintain, promote and replicate agricultural such models, in recent years, the Provincial Agricultural Promotion Center has accelerated propaganda activities, trained and guided people on agricultural production, ecological environment protection combined with tourism development to create dual economic efficiency.
In the coming time, the Provincial Agricultural Promotion Center will further implement agricultural development models associated with tourism on a larger and more concentrated scale; actively transfer techniques and technology to the people; strengthen linkages and develop multi-value circular agriculture models. |
After the training, many farmers changed their way of thinking and working. Typically, Hoang Van Hiep, Director of Dong Dao Tourism Cooperative in Quy Son commune (Luc Ngan) reorganized the production process and expanded the fruit growing area following organic direction.
Taking local advantage of beautiful Bau Tien Lake, he invested capital to build an amusement and resort area to meet the needs of visitors. Recently, Bau Tien eco-tourism destination has been recognized as 3-star OCOP product, which is a push and motivation for Hiep to continue expanding production and business.
In the coming time, the Provincial Agricultural Promotion Center will further implement agricultural development models associated with tourism on a larger and more concentrated scale; actively transfer techniques and technology to the people; strengthen linkages and develop multi-value circular agriculture models.
However, to effectively develop such models, it is necessary to have due attention from all levels, sectors and local authorities to solving the policy and funding issues so as to help the models stand firm and widespread.
