Australian volunteers contribute to Vietnam’s development

Australian volunteers have contributed not only to the success of organizations in Vietnam but also the common growth of the country, said Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Craig Chittick.

During a meeting in Hanoi on December 4 with Australian volunteers and partners on the occasion of International Volunteer Day (December 5), Chittick hailed them as goodwill ambassadors who have fostered bilateral ties.

Pham Thi Thanh Tam – Executive Director of the REACH Centre which specialises in providing vocational training, career advice, and job placement services for poor young people, a partner of the Australian Volunteers Programme – said that as a non-profit organization founded in 2008, REACH has since become more well-known globally, which is a result of thousands of volunteer hours.

Australian volunteers play an important role in REACH’s development support activities and in improving lives of poor Vietnamese youths.

Since 1973, over 1,000 Australian volunteers have worked in Vietnam, mostly in education and training, community development, the private sector, agriculture, gender equality, and healthcare.

The new Australian Volunteers Programme was launched in February 2018. Vietnam is the fifth largest recipient of volunteers under the programme. Over 40 Australian volunteers travel to Vietnam for work each year.

Volunteering programme launched in Bac Giang
(BGO) – The programme of “Winter Volunteer 2018 and Spring Volunteer 2019” was launched on December 2 in Xuan Luong commune, Yen The district by the Bac  Giang provincial Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) and the provincial Youth Federation (YF). 
 
Nearly 150 volunteers to work at WTA’s 11th General Assembly
Nearly 150 volunteers, mostly students, will support delegates at 11th General Assembly of the World Technopolis Association (WTA), which will be held in the southern province of Binh Duong from October 10-12.
 
RoK’s volunteers carry out numerous activities in Lang Giang district
(BGO)- A group of volunteers of the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) with 38 members granted fund and organized a voluntary program at two kindergartens of Huong Son commune, Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province from 9 to 11 July. 
 
18 volunteer teams and groups join “Mua he xanh” campaign in Bac Giang
(BGO) – Bac Giang province has welcomed 18 teams and groups of local youth members and volunteers in many universities and colleges under “Mua he xanh” (Green summer) campaign since June 26 who have visited and supported the policy beneficial families, national contributors as well as acted for the community.
 
Volunteers swing into action for exam season
(BGO) – When flamboyant flowers light up schoolyards and corners of streets, ninth and twelfth graders sit for important exams. At this time, volunteers in blue shirts are always ready to support the candidates.
