Average monthly income of workers up in Q1

The average monthly income of workers in the first quarter of this year was 7 million VND (300 USD) per person, an increase of 197,000 VND quarter-on-quarter and up 640,000 VND year-on-year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

At a press conference in Hanoi on April 6 to announce the labour and employment situation in the first quarter, Director of the GSO’s Population and Labour Statistics Department Pham Hoai Nam said the average monthly income of male workers reached 8 million VND, or 1.36 times higher than that of female workers. Meanwhile, the average income of workers in urban areas is 1.41 times higher than in rural areas, standing at 8.6 million VND and 6.1 million VND, respectively.

Meanwhile, the average monthly income of wage earners in the first quarter increased by 7.9% year on year, equivalent to 578,000 VND, and 2.6% quarter on quarter, equivalent to 204,00 VND, to 7.9 million VND per person.

Male wage earners got an average monthly income of 8.3 million VND, 1.14 times higher than that of females. Wage earners in urban areas had their average monthly salaries 1.25 times higher than those in rural areas, which was 8.9 million VND compared to 7.1 million VND.

Workers in the service sector saw the highest growth in the monthly income, reaching 8.3 million VND per person, up 10.1% on a yearly basis.

Those in the agro-forestry-fishery sector earned 4.1 million VND each, marking a 9.2% rise while those in the industry and construction sector earned 7.9 million VND each, up 9%.

Several sectors like mining, wholesale and retail, automobile and motorbike repair, transportation and logistics also recorded increases in workers’ income, ranging from 2.7%-6.7%.

Meanwhile, real estate trading, production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water and steam sectors posted decreases of about 1%-2.6% in monthly workers’ income.

Bac Giang creates jobs to nearly 8,300 labours
(BGO) – The Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA) in Bac Giang province forecast that the province demands to employ about 65,000 labours in 2023, over 60,000 of whom will work at the industrial parks and clusters. In the first quarter, nearly 8,300 labours are expected to find suitable jobs in domestic company and overseas.
