Bac Giang builds "Luc Ngan orange" geographical indication

(BGO) - On the afternoon of April 13, the Department of Science and Technology of Bac Giang province set up an advisory council to select an unit that will perform the provincial-level science and technology task of building and developing the “Luc Ngan orange” geographical indication (GI) for orange products of Luc Ngan district.

At the conference, the Center for Agrarian Systems Research and Development (CASRAD) under the Field Crops Research Institute, one of the candidate units, presented contents related to the implementation of this task.

Accordingly, the center will focus on building and registering for protection of the “Luc Ngan orange” geographical indication for orange products of the district; registering for protection of the logo of the "Luc Ngan orange" geographical indication.

In addition, it will build an organizational system and tools to manage, exploit and develop the "Luc Ngan orange" geographical indication; and develop a model for the effective management and development of the GI, contributing to improving the competitiveness and value of orange products in Luc Ngan district.

The council discussed the research objective, content, and method; expected product results, applicability, research results transfer method, and capacity of the organization and individuals in charge of performing the task.

Council members highly appreciated the application of the CASRAD, with the contents and products meeting the orders of the provincial People's Committee.

At the end of the conference, the council voted to select the CASRAD as the unit in charge of the implementation of the task. It also requested the research team and its head edit some research contents following the opinions of the council members to complete their presentation for the provincial People's Committee’s approval.
