The Trai Lam Rice noodle Production and Trading Cooperative in Luc Ngan district prepares many products to supply to the market on Tet. |
Through trade promotion conferences and e-commerce platforms, the cooperative's incense products become known to more people. In addition to familiar markets such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hai Duong and Ho Chi Minh City, this year the cooperative has a new consumer market - Nghe An province.
At this time, members of the cooperative are gathering human resources and materials for production. On average, workers produce more than 50,000 incense sticks of all kinds per day, three times more than in the first and middle months of the year. Currently, the cooperative is completing procedures to register for 3-star OCOP (One Commune One Product) certification for its incense candle product.
The Tan Thanh Agricultural Cooperative in Lang Giang district has 12 members specializing in growing and selling straw mushrooms. Every day, the cooperative sells 150-300 kg of straw mushrooms, with a stable price of 90,000-100,000 VND (4.11 USD) per kg. In addition to the main market in Hanoi, in recent years, the cooperative's straw mushrooms have also been present in the provinces of Lao Cai, Thai Binh and Yen Bai.
Many other units have also actively sought and expanded markets in order to create breakthroughs in revenue in the last months of the year.
Improving product quality
The province has more than 1,100 cooperatives, including 724 agro-forestry-fishery cooperatives and 358 non-agricultural cooperatives. The remaining are people's credit funds.
According to the provincial Cooperative Alliance, cooperatives increasingly tend to diversify their crafts and services; and quickly respond to the market, especially during "golden times" when consumer shopping needs skyrocket.
In order to support collective economic models, the alliance has regularly maintained trade promotion activities and promoted supply-demand connections. In the last months of the year, these activities are further enhanced.
From now until the end of 2023, the alliance will continue to enable many cooperatives to participate in trade promotion conferences and promote products in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, and Hai Phong.
The expanded market is a lever for cooperatives to develop production and increase revenue. With the purpose of affirming reputation and retaining customers, cooperatives have always paid attention to improving product quality. Currently, the province has 281 products recognized as meeting OCOP standards of 3 stars or higher, about 85% of which are from cooperatives and cooperative groups.
The OCOP certification is a condition that facilitates the cooperatives’ smooth and stable sale of agricultural and non-agricultural products. For example, the Phu Cuong Cooperative in Van Son commune, Son Dong province raises 2,000-3,000 commercial six-fingered chickens and more than 1,000 parent chickens each year.
The six-finger chicken egg has just been recognized as a 3-star OCOP 3 product, with the selling price about 15% higher than that of regular chicken eggs. The cooperative is preparing to supply nearly 2 tons of commercial chicken to the market for the Lunar New Year (Tet), double the figure in 2022.
Nguyen Huu Thong, Vice Chairman of the provincial Cooperative Alliance, emphasized that along with the State's support policies, cooperatives need to constantly innovate and improve production activities, build brands, capture the market, bringing goods into modern distribution channels, and set up sustainable relationships with customers and partners.
In addition, they should encourage cooperatives to recruit members, especially households with capital, production land, and advanced technology for large-scale, stable, and sustainable production.
