Bac Giang delegation bags 11 medals at National Classic and Freestyle Wrestling Championships

(BGO)- After 6 days competing at the provincial Gymnasium, the 2022 National Classic and Freestyle Wrestling Championships ended on June 12. The Bac Giang delegation bagged 11 medals at this event.

The Championship, jointly held by the General Sports Administration and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province, was attended by nearly 400 athletes from 25 provinces, cities and sectors. During 6 competition days (from 7 to 12 June), 63 medals were awarded to the athletes.

Wrestler Nguyen Van Luong wins gold medal at men’s classic wrestling category for weight group of 60kg.

20 athletes from Bac Giang delegation including 16 males and 4 females joined the championships and bagged total 11 medals (1 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze medals).

Particularly, Nguyen Van Vinh (born in 2005) won gold medal at men’s classic wrestling (weight group of 60kg). The 3 silver medals came to Hoang Khuong Duy (born in 2007) at men’s free-style wrestling (weight group of 57 kg), Do Van Kien (born in 2005) at men’s classic wrestling (weight group of 48 kg) and Giap Xuan Bac (born in 2006) at classic wrestling (weight group of 55 kg)

The Organizing Board presents flags to the outstanding athlete delegations.

According to Nguyen Quang Lanh, coach of Bac Giang wrestling team, there are many youngsters among 20 athletes of Bac Giang delegation who participated the championships for the first time. The athletes’ training faced numerous difficulties prior to the championships. However, the delegation competed excellently to win 11 medals, exceeding the set targets of 5 to 6 medals.
