Recently, many farmers in Bac Giang have changed their mindset from agricultural production to agricultural economics. It can be simply understood as a shift from the mindset of increasing output to increasing value, producing and consuming products that the market needs.

Choosing the agricultural sector to get rich, Vu Van Tuan in Bay village, Canh Thuy commune (Yen Dung district) soon realized that climate change and extreme natural disasters negatively affected production activities.

After researching information, in 2018, he invested in building 2,000 square meter net houses to grow vegetables and later increasing to 3.5 hectares as one of the pioneers in developing high-tech agriculture in the province.

He also cooperates with many households in and outside the province to produce hundreds of hectares of crop not only to expand the production area but also to diversify crops by region to serve the processing industry.

Targeting large enterprises, supermarket chains and stores both domestically and internationally, Tuan decided to establish a company specializing in providing safe food; invest in modern machinery and technology systems to process agricultural products.

Currently, the company has super-fast freezing technology, block freezing, conveyor belts, cutting machines and shaping machines among others.

Ngo Thi Hanh, Deputy Director of Toan Thang Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative (Bac Giang City) is also creative in production and responsive to the market.

She and the members of the Board of Directors decided to introduce high-yield melon and squash varieties into production as the main crops. The consumption has become more favorable while the market has been expanded from restaurant chains to supermarkets in and outside the province.

Apart from two above mentioned individuals, each year, the whole Bac Giang province has more than 100,000 households with good production and business skills at all levels. This is the core force participating in economic development under the linkage chain, applying high technology, having quality products, suitable for the trend.

Create momentum and support for farmers

In recent years, the province has focused on many solutions to support farmers in developing the agricultural economy, which has been participated by the entire political system from the province to the grassroots.

Since 2023, the Provincial People's Council has issued many resolutions to support agricultural production. In particular, sectors, localities and unions have paid special attention to trade promotion activities to help cooperatives and businesses attract more customers and new contracts.

Closely associated with farmers, the Farmers' Associations at all levels have also implemented many solutions to support members in developing production and accessing markets.

One of the new ways in 2024 is that the Provincial Farmers' Association has proactively advised the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to issue a mechanism to promote the role of the Association and the farmer class in developing prosperous agriculture, wealthy farmers, civilized and modern countryside.

Accordingly, the Provincial Farmers' Association issued and effectively implemented the project to improve the organization and operation of the Farmers' Support Fund. In the period of 2024-2028, this Fund will be supplemented with 35 billion VND (1.47 million) from the State budget. It is estimated that by 2028, the total Fund will reach 50.5 billion VND.

This is a resource to support farmer members to expand production area, invest in machinery and equipment, build factories, improve product quality and expand markets.

Transforming agricultural production thinking into agricultural economics contributes to effectively implementing the strategy of building ecological agriculture, modern countryside and civilized farmers. Farmer is the core and the subject of realizing this goal.

In addition to the participation and support of the State, each person needs to constantly learn, improve their capacity, knowledge and skills to gradually master production, become an important link in the commodity market.
