Truong Giang is a difficult mountainous commune in the district with nearly 3,300 people of nine ethnic minority groups. The hilly and mountainous lands are not favorable for agriculture production.

Chairman of Truong Giang communal People’s Committee Giap Van Dong said since early this year, the commune has taken advantages of various sources to switch economic structure, accelerate investment of infrastructure projects to serve local socio-economic development.

The awareness of officials and local people about poverty reduction was improved. The rate of poor households reduced down to 7.17 percent, near poor families down to 8.17 percent. The policy beneficiaries regularly receive due attention from local authority and agencies.

However, the commune faced a lot of difficulties in traffic. The local main income was gained from orchard economy (lychee and forestry). Local farmers must pass Tong Lenh float bridge to bring lychee to Luc Ngan district. At the lychee harvest season, the congestion often occurs leading to high risk of unsafety. Thus, local authority in the commune proposed the province and district to support building concrete bridge via Luc Nam River.

Implementing the plan to realize new style rural building, the commune has yet to complete some criteria. So, the commune also suggested the People’s Committee in the province and district to continue assisting on poverty reduction and new style rural building.

After discussing and clarifying relevant issues, PPC Chairman Le Anh Duong acknowledged the achievement of the Party, authority and people in Truong Giang commune, especially in poverty reduction.

He encouraged the commune to tap the potentials, boost up economic growth, care for people’s life, especially preserving and promoting traditional culture to support the poor overcome the life challenge.

Local authority should further educate and propagandize to raise the legal awareness for people while mobilizing all sources in building new style rural, concentrating on unfinished criteria toward sustainable and effective way.

Receiving the proposals, the People’s Committee in Luc Nam and province together with departments and sectors will continue removing difficulties in developing transportation, cultural and medical infrastructure for the commune.
