(BGO) – As of July 31, Bac Giang province harvested
over 4,500 tonnes of longans, including 1,800 tonnes in Luc Nam district, 1,600
tonnes in Luc Ngan district, nearly 500 tonnes in Lang Giang district, 370
tonnes in Tan Yen district and 250 tonnes in Yen The district, reported the
Plant Production and Protection Division (Department of Agriculture and Rural
Development).
Currently, the longan is sold at 7,000 – 15,000 VND per kg, some sold at 15,000 – 18,000 VND per kg.
The province has about 3,400 hectares of longans in which 3,000 hectares can be harvested mostly in the districts of Luc Ngan, Luc Nam, Yen The, Tan Yen, Lang Giang.

Thanks to favourable weather condition and good cultivation technique, the province expects to harvest over 25,000 tonnes of longan, up more than 2,000 tonnes over last year.
So far, Bac Giang has had 29 longan growing area codes to export to foreign markets of America, China and Australia on total area of over 580 hectares.
Head of the Plant Production and Protection Division Dang Van Tang said: “To widen the consumption, the Division cooperated with localities to take samples of fruits grown in qualified area for export in Dong Ky commune (Yen The district) and Luc Son commune (Luc Nam district) for analysis. If the samples meet the requirement, we will join hands with relevant agencies to promote the longan export to the US, Australia, Japan, Singapore and China among others”.

Bac Giang has five more longan growing area codes for Japanese market
(BGO) – On authorization of Japanese competent organization,
the Department of Plant Protection (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural
Development) has recognized five more longan cultivation areas in Bac Giang
province that are qualified to be granted with growing area codes (GAC) to
export to Japan with total area of over 53.2 hectares.

Sugar apple and longan enjoy ease consumption
(BGO) – It is the peak harvest season of sugar apple and
longan in the northern province of Bac Giang. According to the Department of
Agriculture and Rural Development, the province has 3,400 hectares of longan
(including over 600 hectares of late ripening longan) mostly in the districts
of Luc Ngan, Luc Nam, Yen The and Lang Giang with total productivity of 23,300
tonnes.
