The event was attended by Pham Thi Hai Chuyen, former member of the Central Party Committee, Chairwoman of Vietnam Association of the Elderly (VAE); Le Anh Duong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Head of the provincial Service Board for the Elderly; representatives of the provincial Fatherland Front’s Committee, departments, branches and sectors as well as 150 delegates represented for 230 Chairpersons of the communes, wards, towns and over 2,400 local ED Heads.

Opening the ceremony, Duong Van Trong, Chairman of the provincial EA highly appreciated the key role of the staff in charge of the EA tasks of all levels, especially at the grassroots level who have made great efforts on reinforcing the association movements and activities for years so as to fulfill any assigned works in all circumstances.

Many creative and effective solutions were exchanged at the meeting. Particularly, Nguyen Thanh Hong, Chairman of Cam Ly communal EA (Luc Nam district) is enthusiastic about association task at the age of 73; Hoang Thi Kuong, Chairwoman of An Chau town EA (Son Dong district) regularly consults the local authority with good policy execution to the elderly and calls for the active involvement of the member families in the campaign of “Grandparents and descendants follow 5 teachings of Uncle Ho” while Tran Thi Liem, ED Head in Tan hamlet, Tan Thinh commune (Lang Giang district) has several creative methods to raise the association fund and care for members’ spiritual and material living standard among others.

Addressing at the meeting, VAE Chairwoman Pham Thi Hai Chuyen and provincial Vice Chairman Le Anh Duong spoke highly of the provincial EA’s creative and effective methods with the gained achievements for the last 5 years and honored the responsible spirit and the enthusiasm of the EA staff of all levels, especially at the grassroots ones.

Besides, the leaders noted that the grassroots officials should base on the local actual condition to define the EA’s key tasks and well execute the movements launched by VAE and provincial EA in the upcoming time.

The priority is given to such practical activities as establishing and promoting the efficiency of the art performance and sports clubs to create a useful playground for its members to improve their spiritual and physical life; mobilizing various sources to raise fund for the elderly while focusing on presenting the commend and reward to the outstanding individuals and collectives.

Besides, it is necessary to further boost up propagandizing the Law for Elderly People; timely consult the local authority, sectors, department and society with sufficient role and position of the old in the community; pay regular care and encouragement to them so as to help the members promote their prestige, and experience to contribute wholeheartedly to all fields of social life, deserving with 18 golden words granted by late President Ho Chi Minh that is “Higher age, higher spirit, exemplary set in the national construction and protection”.

At the event, 150 staff who are EA Chairpersons in communes, wards and town as well as ED Heads with many achievements in emulative movements in the period of 2012 – 2017 were honored by the VAE, provincial People’s Committee and EA.
