Dang Thanh Nam, 79, from Dinh Ke ward, Bac Giang city is the first patient to receive the treatment at the hospital. Before being hospitalised, Nam had symptoms of abdominal pain, digestion disorder, and bleeding.
The patient was found to have a colon polyp, sized 3 x 5 cm during endoscopic examination. The hospital decided to cut the polyp using the endoscopic technique. The surgery team was headed by doctor Hoang Truong Giang.
The patient was in stable condition and released from the hospital just one day after the surgery.
Previously, over 50 patients had their small- and large-sized polyps in their digestive systems removed at the hospital by cutting and burning methods.
The endoscopic technique is faster, has fewer complications than the old techniques. Patients also recover more quickly.
