Bac Giang receives 15,000 safe blood units

(BGO) – In the first six months, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation (Steering Committee) in Bac Giang province cooperated with local organizations, agencies and schools to launch 21 voluntary blood donation events which attracted 11,626 turns of donors and received 15,000 safe blood units, accounting for 93.7 percent of 2023 target (757 units higher than the same period last year).

Some prominent districts with high result included Luc Ngan (2,180 units), Viet Yen (2,084 units), Luc Nam (1,603 units), Yen The (1,223 units), Hiep Hoa (1,060 units) and Tan Yen (1,059 units).

These blood units were delivered to National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and Vietnam – German Hospital to supplement to the blood bank and serve emergency and patient treatment.

For years, Bac Giang province has been top localities in voluntary blood donation movement. In 2022, the province launched 33 voluntary blood donation events and received 22,500 blood units (exceeding 40.7 percent of yearly plan).

In the upcoming time, all levels of Red Cross Society in the province will accelerate the communication, raise the people’s awareness about the humanity of blood donation on mass media as well as honor the outstanding individual and organization.

(BGO) – The Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation (VBD) in Bac Giang province has joined hands with the Red Cross Society at all levels to launch 10 VBD festivals in response of Red Spring Festival 2023 (starting from January 8).

1.43 million blood units mobilised in 2022

The entire nation mobilised and collected more than 1.43 million blood units in 2022, reaching 106% of the planned target and meeting the blood demand for medical emergencies and treatment.

Programme honours outstanding contributors to blood donation drive

The National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusions (NIHBT) held a programme in Hanoi on December 15 to honour 17 collectives and 9 individuals, who have made significant contributions to the blood donation drive.
