Bac Giang’s businesses join hands for good causes

BAC GIANG - These days, all levels, sectors and localities in Bac Giang province have focused on implementing many activities to pay tribute to the national contributors and relatives of martyrs. In particular, with affection and responsibility, the business community has spent a large amount on such the good deed, helping improve the lives of local war invalids, sick soldiers and policy families.

According to statistics from the Division of National Contributors (Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs - DoLISA), the province is currently managing more than 158,600 records of national contributors, including nearly 20,700 martyrs; 21,700 wounded and sick soldiers; more than 1,400 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers together with resistance activists, victims of Agent Orange...

So far, the province has offered monthly allowances to about 24,600 national contributors and their relatives.

On the journey to pay gratitude to the people with meritorious services, many enterprises have maximized their social responsibility by carrying out meaningful and practical tasks.

Typically, Ha Phong Garment Export Joint Stock Company in Hiep Hoa district, Company 45 in Son Dong district provided financial support to build houses for policy families.

Ha Bac Garment Export Joint Stock Company in Viet Yen township annually coordinates with Hong Thai Ward People's Committee in Viet Yen township to present gifts to impoverished policy beneficiaries, organize candle lighting night to pay tribute at the ward martyrs cemetery.

Besides, Hanoi based ADF Construction Joint Stock Company sponsored to paint and construct charity houses for national contributors Tan Yen district while Vinh Phat BG Joint Stock Company (Bac Giang City) supported expense to renovate martyrs' cemeteries.

Nguyen Cuong, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial Business Association (PBA), shared that the PBA has paid due attention to paying gratitude to the national contributors. To appeal for members and businesses’ response and social responsibility, on every occasion of July 27, the PBA sends official dispatches calling for funding sources; regularly integrate propaganda content and raise awareness for officials and workers in meetings. At the same time, the PBA offers timely reward and encouragement for outstanding units that create widespread power.

According to Nguyen Hoang Giang, Director of Agribank Bac Giang II Branch, on Martyrs and Wounded Soldiers day every year, along with gifting and supporting funding to build houses for disadvantaged national contributors, the branch maintains to establish a delegation to visit Truong Son National Martyrs in Quang Tri province), tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap in Quang Binh province.

At Lang Giang, Son Dong, Yen The, Luc Nam branches, the youth union organized cleaning and beautification of local martyrs' cemeteries; presented gifts to national contributors and martyrs' relatives. These activities helped officers and employees of the unit imbibe the nation's ethic "When drinking water, remember the source".

In every mid-July, Vinahan Joint Stock Company in Bac Giang City organizes an event to offer gifts to workers whose relatives belong to social policy beneficiaries while the Trade union groups review proposals to support housing renovation in difficult cases.

This year, the Company coordinated with Song Mai commune (where the enterprise is located), Bac Giang Lung Hospital and the Youth Union in the Health Department to organize a gratitude program for the national contributors who are receiving monthly subsidies in the commune.

To date, all national contributors in Bac Giang province have a living standard equal to or higher than the average living standard of the population in their place of residence; all Vietnamese Heroic Mothers are cared for.

In addition to receiving free health examination and consultation, nearly 200 wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and victims of Agent Orange were presented gifts by the Company (each worth 250,000 VND). Though the material value is not great, but the gifts are the hearts and responsibilities of employees in the enterprise, expressing deep gratitude to the social beneficiaries.

The contributions and shares of the business community have contributed significantly to improving the lives of civil servants and policy families in the province.

To promote this important social resource, Bui Quang Phat, Deputy Director of the DoLISA, said in the coming time, the DoLISA will step up propaganda and call on businesses’ more attention and assistance.

Apart from mobilizing businesses to build "Gratitude" fund at all levels, the DoLISA proposed to replicate forms of support to specific addresses, further improve the material and spiritual life of national contributors and social policy families in the area.
