BAC GIANG - Thanks to improved skills and abilities, many students graduated from vocational training institutions in Bac Giang province have got a good job after graduation.

In recent years, businesses and production establishments have been willing to recruit students of the faculty of automotive engineering technology and logistics under the College of Industrial Engineering because this major meets current market needs and many of the school's students are highly qualified and skilled.

Teacher Bui Tien Phong, head of the faculty, said that the curriculum spends 70% of the time on practicing, of which 40% are at enterprises. Teaching content follows documents provided by businesses, so it is close to reality requirements. After a period of practice and internship at enterprises, students are trained in skills and working style, so they can well meet recruitment requirements after graduation.

Currently, the school has 24 college-level and 25 intermediate-level majors, annually training about 7,300 students. To have quality human resources, the school has built training programmes in the direction of "learning going hand-in-hand with practice" and "school associated with businesses" to help learners have access to practice.

In addition to promptly grasping and applying new technologies in management and teaching, the school has proactively strengthened cooperation with international businesses and training institutions. Recently, LG Display Vietnam Co., Ltd. has arranged internships for 1,000-1,200 college students of the school. Students can both experience working at the company and earn income, and if they wish, they will be accepted to work after graduation.

Improving training quality and meeting labour market needs, the Bac Giang Mountain College, based in Yen The district, has promoted cooperation with businesses and innovated teaching programmes so that they meet reality.

According to Nguyen Thi Hong, principal of the school, from the beginning of the academic year, the school has actively surveyed the labour demand of businesses in the district and surrounding areas. It has focused on training such professions such industrial electronics, fashion, information technology, automotive technology and welding.

These are all key industries where investors have high demand for human resources, creating opportunities for students to find jobs after graduation. The unit has built a three-party coordination mechanism between school, enterprise and learner; and regularly sent staff to businesses to grasp human resource needs to introduce jobs to students after graduation.

The province currently has 33 vocational education establishments, each year enrolling and training about 30,000 learners. In the 2021-2025 period, Bac Giang has identified vocational education as one of the key tasks. Every year, the province spends public investment capital on building and upgrading the physical facilities of vocational education establishments and allocated tens of billions of dong to support vocational training units and learners.

The current market values the skills and work efficiency of workers. In recruitment, many businesses in industrial zones require workers to undergo intensive training in a specialized field and to meet strict requirements on professional skills and positions. To deal with this, local vocational schools have flexibly renovated training programmes to meet the needs of businesses.

According to the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, every year more than 90% of learners graduated from colleges and intermediate schools and more than 80% finishing short-term training courses get a job.

To date, the rate of trained workers in the entire province has reached nearly 76%. Many businesses appreciate the capacity and skills of students after being trained at vocational schools in the province.

A representative of Luxshare – ICT (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. in the Quang Chau Industrial Park (Viet Yen district), said the company has "ordered" high-quality human resources from a number of vocational schools in the province so recruitment is very smooth.
