Bac Giang well prepares for hosting badminton competition of SEA Games 31

(BGO) - Mai Son, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Head of the local Organising Board for badminton competition of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) in Bac Giang province on February 8 chaired a meeting regarding the tasks of hosting badminton competition.

At the meeting, representative of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST) reported on preparation of the locality for hosting the badminton event of SEA Games 31 in Bac Giang province.

8 countries will compete at this sport event including Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam with 127 athletes.

The opening ceremony of the 31st SEA Games is scheduled on May 12, 2022 evening at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi. The badminton competition will take place from 16 to 22 May 2022 at Bac Giang Sports Competition Hall (in the southern urban area of Bac Giang city).

DOCST and related agencies assigned detailed tasks to the competent divisions and units for implementation. Regarding facilities and technical equipment, the Department collaborated with related units to survey, make construction plans, repair and improve the items and equipment of the Sports Competition Hall after being used as the 2nd field hospital for Covid-19 treatment. Otherwise, they are well preparing equipment and tools for the competition. They have also made promotion plans with visual propaganda.

In his conclusion, permanent Vice Chairman Mai Son highly evaluated the preparation of the related agencies and units, especially the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. He stressed, Bac Giang province was chosen as a venue for badminton competition of SEA Games 31 showing the province’s capacity in organising and serving the national and international sport events. This is also a good opportunity to promote Bac Giang’s image to domestic and international friends.

He urged the departments and agencies to continue reviewing and supplementing other tasks to ensure quality and effectiveness. The people’s committee of Bac giang city was requested to collaborate with related agencies to boost the contractors for speed up the progress and timely complete the construction items ensuring beautiful and clean landscapes of the routes and streets.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism was urged to work with related units to check up all of the items inside the Sports Competition Hall in need of refurbishment and improvement, which should be completed by February 16, 2022.

The press agencies need to boost propaganda and actively promote the image of Bac Giang province.
