Bac Ninh develops linkage chains to attract tourists in ripe fruit seasons

Updated: 16:14, 07/11/2026

BAC NINH- Owning vast fruit orchards with diversified products and sequential harvest seasons, Bac Ninh city has many advantages for agricultural tourism development.

With favourable soil and climate conditions, fruit farming is emerging as a key strength of many localities in Bac Ninh city.

Several orange gardens in the localities of former Luc Ngan district are ready for harvest.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the total fruit growing area in the entire city reaches around 53,739 hectares including 29,800 hectares of lychee with an output of 131,560 tonnes last season and 11,650 hectares for orange, pomelo, jujube and guava with a total output of 118,525 tonnes, an increase of 18.7 percent against 2025.

The harvest time of each fruits follows one another throughout the year, for example, lychee is harvested from May to July, orange, pomelo and jujube are harvested from September to February of the following year while guavas are available for harvesting year-round.

In recent years, the city has paid attention to linking agricultural production with tourism through fruit festivals, promotional activities for consumption of farm produce and tourism development programmes in ripe fruit seasons.

Particularly, in the 2025 orange and pomelo season, the city provided free buses to carry locals and tourists to the fruit orchards for visiting and experiencing.

“My family has more than 2 hectares of orange and pomelo, grown for 20 years and expected to harvest about 50 tonnes of fruits this year. Thanks to organic caring techniques, the fruits have beautiful appearance; thus, our garden receives hundreds of arrivals coming for tourism and buying fruits each harvest season. After enjoying fruits right at the garden, many tourists ordered more fruits to bring home as the gifts”, said Nguyen Dinh Canh in Kim Trung residential group, Chu ward.

Some orchard owners in the wards and communes of Chu, Phuong Son, Nam Duong, Luc Ngan, Kien Lao and other areas have also invested in building pathways and pruning branches to open more space for visitors to explore the orchards and take photos.

This demonstrates how tourism can create an additional sales channel and increase the value of fruit products, supplementing the income resource from traditional farming.

According to Do Tuan Khoa, Vice Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this department will cooperate with 2 travel agencies including Vietravel and Hanoi Tourist to develop 2 experiential tours while supporting tourism promotion efforts to attract visitors to the local fruit orchards.

This initiative aims to transform individual visits into well-organised tourism products that connect multiple destinations and expand the tourist market.

Developing ripe-fruit season tourism is not only a way to attract more visitors to the local orchards but also an opportunity to reorganize how agricultural products generate values.

When orchard owners, cooperatives, businesses and local authorities together engage in one value chain, infrastructure is improved and quality of experiential tourism is enhanced, fruit growers can earn additional income, agricultural products can gain access to broader markets and localities can gradually develop distinctive and sustainable agricultural tourism products.
